Wasnt this guy going to convert to an outfielder in the STL minors? How is that going?

I remember everyone started making jokes about any Cubs pitcher who struggled... Considerablly Wood... "Let's make him an outfielder!"

He's still down in Jupiter doing extended spring training. He's still having problems cutting and stopping on his knee. They say it's still giving him problems doing baseball realted moves. So, I don't look for him to be on the radar anytime soon. Talk about a "hype" that got knocked back quick.

here's what I found from the Cardinals transactions section...pretty well what's already been said:

4/2/06 Placed OF Larry Bigbie on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24, with a stress fracture in his left foot; Placed OF Rick Ankiel on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left knee tendon.

We saw him play with the Swing a couple of times when they were in Peoria, and he had actually made the adjustment to RF pretty darn well. He covered the territory out there effectively and had a bat that was killing the ball.

With that said, though, he would have (in theory) been off the 15 day DL a while back, and hasn't been assigned to a team yet, so who knows.
