Cubs lose 14-1. Their lone run is scored when Zambrano spontaneously combusts in the bottom of the 3rd and one of his arms is hurled around the bases in a boomerang fashion, eventually coming to rest on home plate. Stunned from what transpired and the feeling that this may not be accounted for in the official rules, the umpiring crew and Frank Robinson agree to award the Cubs with a run. Rusch is called on to relieve Zambrano, thus the 14 runs.

I stupidly picked the Cubs in the mlb.com Survivor game, hoping to spur them on. More likely I'll be eliminated for the week tonight.

It figures that out of a 3 game series, they would pitch Wood on the day game so I can't see it :P

I am driving from NW AR to Houston that day, so I won't be able to see it either...

Man, odds are this one will be blacked out here in DC...seems like most of the Nats games are. Not that I have any great desire to see the Cubs do much of anything, though it would be cool to see Big Z tear it up.

impossible. Z won't make it till the 3rd inning. Unless you're saying that the spontaneous combustion comes in the dugout after he gives up solo HR's to the first 9 hitters

I think we will win today...

In the 12th inning after rusch allows the other team to score 5, thus tieing the game up.

Final score: Cubs 6, Nats 5 (All hit in the top of the 12th)

D'oh!

I meant 8th, not 12th.

Is that some sort of riddle?

Probably general directions for the Cubs to use should one of them actually get a hit. It's been a while since they've had the opportunity to run the diamond. Wouldn't want to waste all that fantastic speed that we have by virtue of the players being unfamiliar with the progression of baserunning.

Jokes aside, the way Livan has been throwing there is a flicker of hope that tonight we see some Cubs offense as opposed to offensive Cubs.

Baseball needs re-alignment...

If there was a division consisting of the Cubs, D-Rays, Royals, Pirates, Nats, and Marlins, we'd all be making plans for the post-season.

Baseball needs re-alignment...

If there was a division consisting of the Cubs, D-Rays, Royals, Pirates, Nats, and Marlins, we'd all be making plans for the post-season.

We need to get this idea to Selig -- its our only hope!

We're only in 1st until we get swept by the Nats.

true. thus, I propose:

American League
----------------------------
Anaheim
Arizona
Atlanta
Baltimore
Boston
Chicago White Sox
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Colorado
Detroit
Florida
Houston
Kansas City
Los Angeles
Milwaukee
Minnesota
NY Mets
NY Yankees
Oakland
Philly
Pittsburgh
San Diego
San Francisco
Seattle
St. Louis
Tampa Bay
Texas
Toronto
Washington

National League
