Alright I've read every Cubs blog and message board that I care to. I've read everything suggestion from firing the entire coaching staff to fire selling the entire team. I've read what the Cubs looked like and that Dusty don't have control of the team any more. I read the team is "unlucky" and not to blame the coaching staff. I read it all and have commented in some or most of them.

But the fact and reality is the Cubs are 15-22 and 8.5 games back. It's May 15th. The Cubs upcoming series are the Nationals and then the World Champion White Sox.

I can see no better time for the Cubs to come to life. The Nationals are a much worse team then the Cubs (bias?). The Cubs win that series (and dare I say sweep them) and take that momentum in the White Sox series fighting for pride.

The Cubs need to take small bites now. Thay cannot try and make-up all the lost games all at once. Just win the next game. Concentrate on just the next game forgetting what happened the last 2 weeks (of suck) for there is nothing they can do about it now.

I'm not looking for a World Champions in May. These Cubs are not playing very well right now. But this is were teams find themselves. This is the point were the team decides what it's going to be. We as Cub fans might be on the very edge of the greatest Cubs season ever.

We might be talking about this in October wondering why our loyalties were questioned early on. I know my loyalty and Cubs pride has been questioned. I know that watching this team is killing me due to them looking like there in slow motion.

But I believe. This team needs to get around .500. Then regain Prior, Then Miller, Then D. Lee. By then this team should be catching the leaders who, right now, look like world beaters.

Hang in the fellow Cubs Fans. The storm might be at its worst right now. It might not lighten up for a while OR it could begin to lighten up and we can all begin to see day light.

So everyone raise your Old Style. "Here's to sucking it up!!"

Go Cubs

The way this team is currently constituted, they really don't have a chance, they just aren't good and don't have much talent. My loyalty is still with the Cubs, but that doesn't mean I can't be realistic in assessing their chances, which are slim to none and slim just left town. There are just two many holes and no depth with which to fill them. Just because we criticize management, at every level, please do not question our loyalty to the team, it is rather insulting.

Also, the Nationals are a better team, whether you want to believe it or not. They have more talent and a much better manager.

This two year stretch is as miserable as any I can remember in the 30 years I've followed these clowns. The pre-Dallas Green 80s would probably be the previous low point in my Cub-watching years IMO.

Yeah, they've sucked more than they've been good in that stretch but more often than not they've either been entertaining or given you some hope for the future. I'm seeing neither right now.

I wrote at the end of last year that Dusty has sucked all the joy out of being a Cub fan. That's more true now than it was last September. There is nothing enjoyable about watching this team and there hasn't been for a long, long time. The only reason I'll even think about tuning in for the Sox games is the possibility that there might be one hell of a fight.

I'll raise my Bud Select to the start of summer and eventually college football.

mmmm...college football

edit...I'd like to hang in there with baseball, but I'm really just not interested in watching this team. The Cubs have to compete for time in my life...and they're just not very competitive.

What still gives me hope as a Cubs fan is that except for D-Lee's absence, this is still the team that went 12-8 to begin the season. While that record won't win you any titles, it shows that this team is capbable of being much better than they have been playing. The addition of Woody this week and Prior/Miller in early June should boost us in the standings as well. I'm sure Astros fans weren't thinking playoffs early last year when they were in a deep hole either, but look how it turned out.

Thankfully, my entire attention for the month of June will be on World Cup soccer. That should be sufficient distraction from this mess of a baseball team.

Prior, Wood, Miller will not help what is a woeful offense. Even when Lee comes back the Cubs will still have trouble scoring runs, and their bench is absolutely pathetic. So, unless the pitching staff begins to shut out the other team on a consistent basis I really don't see the return of Wood, Prior, and Miller doing much of anything.

They have a worse record and a manager who insists that Soriano is a leadoff hitter. I certainly don't see anymore talent over there. Although, yes, the Cubs are playing worse right now.

Oh....I'm not throwing in the towel completely on this team. I definitely want to see Wood and Prior pitch. I'd like to see what the team can do once Lee is back. I just don't think the Cubs will be in contention when all of those pieces of the puzzle fall into place.

The team currently makes me want to vomit when I watch them. Every team goes 5-6 games in a row where they play poorly during a season....not 3 weeks.

Scott, my friend, let it go. It's over. You'll be a lot happier.

Larry Horse Thanks but no. I'm going out in to the cold and staying until I die. I'm never going to give up on the team IN MAY.

We need to let some baseball magic happen. Let the games and season play out. Throw all rules out too.

I said before the season I wanted a quick fall from contention and I want it more than ever now. The sooner the house-cleaning and fire sale commence the better the team will be for 2007.

Maybe the Cubs are playing pathetic because the fans are acting pathetic?

I expect better from all involved.

Now that's ridiculous. That's something Baker would say. The simple fact is the Cubs fans are pissed because their team sucks. You are asking for a miracle and truth be told you're not going to get it.

maybe the cubs are playing pathetic because that's the way the were constructed, and they have a pathetic manager and a pathetic baseball philosophy and often make pathetic decisions. i'd love for the cubs to win 20 out of 25 or something, but this team simply cannot do that. they're not good enough. i haven't totally given up hope, but only because it's may. june is an entirely different story.

all i know is that my buddies and i were going to go to wrigley on thursday and sit in the bleachers. not happening any more. i'm a poor college kid, and i'm not spending 40 bucks to watch this team get shut out by some AAAA pitcher. they're terrible, and i am losing interest very quickly.

How are the fans acting pathetic? How else, other than booing should they let management know they are not pleased with the product on the field. If the players don't like it, well then play better. They are paid millions of dollars a year, if they can't take the criticism maybe they should find a new job.

I'm waiting to see what the team does once Aramis comes off the DL. That's where he's been, right?

Seriously, though what is up with the guy? What a letdown.

I cannot explain anything that has happened already this year, but this team does have talent. Let's remember they are major league ball players playing for the only baseball team I watch. They can play this game and I believe they will play much better. Beginning tomorrow night.

If you watch only one team, how do you know they have talent.

Even with Lee healthy, this is not a team with enough talent to win anything but a footrace.
