If my math's right, he's 5 for 37 in the last 11 games. Maybe he's pressing too much.

Obviously, Murton isn't an option, since Baker's sat him a couple times the past few days. It should be Cedeno, Walker, ARam & Jones, but Baker's too stubborn to do that.

in all honesty, it doesn't matter. this team just doesn't have enough good hitters. I wood go Cedeno, Walker, Ramirez (in the hopes that Ramirez someday returns to being good), after that its a crapshoot as Murton, Barrett and Jones are not 4 hitters and everyone else is pretty much just a bad hitter. I guess against righties Jones is alright there and against lefties I would go with Barrett and then Murton, then whoever is platooning with Jones.

I think I'd go:

Cedeno

Walker

ARam

Barrett

Murton

Jones

Pierre

Hairston

But Baker won't do that either.

Thats a halfway decent lineup

How come no one has suggested leading off Murton? He has the highest OBP on the team.

he's not a "legitimate" leadoff hitter.

I think taking Pierre out of the top three is better step.

another thing stubborn as a baker won't do.

yea, I would put him on the block with maddux.

Thank the F Christ. Murton should be batting directly ahead of ARam, if not leading off. Cedeno doesn't walk, and was bound to slide a bunch, even though he is still good. Pierre is just another name on the list of free agency catastrophes in our history so far.

To score runs, you try and put your best on base guys directly ahead of the best RBI guys. Its fairly simple to anyone not in the Cubs dugout.

I haven't been able to watch the past week and a half's worth of games, so I don't know what's going on other than we're losing. Is there a reason why Dusty has sat Murton a couple times the past week?

he's a rookie. since they are losing, it must be because of rookies.

what you've missed is summarized like this up until today:

Other team bats and scores. cubs bat and don't score. repeat until game is out of reach.

Today, maddux dominates padres, cubs squeak out a lead, dempster blows save.
