Iowa loses 2-1 for the 2nd straight day. O'Malley pitched 5 pretty good innings that included 7 K's, but he had 2 pitches that went out for two homers.

The offense wasn't much better as they combined for five hits with the only run scoring on an RBI double by Casey McGehee in the 7th.

a positive though was that Wuertz pitched an inning and a third allowing no hits, no walks, and had 3 K's :D

Thank goodness for that 4-hit (?) day a few days ago, because Pie is struggling. Another 0-4 day at the plate leaves his BA at .264 and OPS at a disappointing .729.

Peoria down 3-0 in the 3rd. Yepez gave up a homer in the 1st and a horribly misplayed ball by Valdez in left brought home a run on a 2 base error. Reed then had a passed ball and the lead is now 3-0 Fort Wayne.

make it 4-0 on an RBI double by Fort Wayne in the 3rd.

Peoria now down 8-1 in the middle of the 5th. Norwood homered in the 4th (his 5th) for the Chiefs only run of the game so far. Yepez was pulled in that disastrous 3rd inning. His final line:

2.1 IP, 2 hits, 7 runs (6 earned), 3 BB's, 1 K and 1 HR allowed. His ERA shot up to 4.13.

Daytona down 1-0 in the 4th and the Jaxx are in a rain delay.

Peoria still down 8-1, they are in a rain delay in the 7th.

Daytona down 2-1 in the 8th. Matt Craig hit his 5th homer of the year in the 7th to put Daytona only down by 1.

Jaxx put a 5 spot on the board in the 1st!

Wuertz has had a few good outings in a row, if I'm not missing any appearances. It looks like he's finally figuired out what he had been doing wrong this year. I'm hopeful he can come up and add another dominant arm to the pen. Question is, who comes down to make room for him if they decide to bring him up? Ohman?

Peoria's game is called after 6 1/2 and they lose 8-1.

Daytona had 2 hits in the 9th, but Fort Myers closer struck out the side and Daytona loses 2-1. Pretty good pitching tonight for Daytona though as Holliman and Phelps combined for a 3 hitter.

haha, Jaxx lead 15-0 in the bottom of the 7th. 22 hits for the Jaxx compared to just 1 for the Braves

Montanez hit a 3 run shot in the 5th as he has 4 RBI's on the night.

This is great news! We need Luis to find the power stroke. He's shown last year and this year that he can hit for average. But if he's going to be an every day outfielder, he needs more power. So looking for homers from Montanez!

The Jaxx are a VERY GOOD team once again (like last year)!

Nic Jackson continues to get on base and get on base and get on base and get on base and get on base and get on base....

Luis Montanez is near the top of the league in hitting (4 for 4 tonight).

Scott Moore leads the league in doubles. Another tonight to go along with his four hits.

Patterson provides speed and is getting on base.

Hoffpauir is still having quite the season.

And Juan Mateo is looking great. 7 IP and 9 k's tonight. Impressive! Like Shaver (who's also pitching great for the Jaxx), he's a sleeper in the organization.

Bobby Dickerson for manager of the big league club please!!!!!!

Bobby is now the Infield/Bunting Coordinator for the Cubs Minor League Department. Listach was the '92 AL Rookie of the Year and is a great person to be around.

Well how bout Von Joshua? He's still around....right?

Von Joshua for hitting coach of the Cubbies!!!

Von Joshua and Alan Dunn were both promoted to AAA.

Sam Fuld might have gotten hurt tonight on an HBP. He left the game after one full inning. In the top of the first, he was hit by a pitch, advancing to second on a bunt and then getting picked off of second. He stayed in for the bottom of the first and made a catch, but was subbed out before Daytona went to play D in the bottom of the second inning.
