I think Sickels underrates how big the age difference is. 3 years, especially when the performance is similar, is a pretty massive factor.

I agree. That's what one of the comments mentioned, and Sickels admitted that it was a very valid point.

Sickels tends to favor polish over potential, so this article comes to some unsurprising conclusions, imo.

I agree that the Cubs have had a hard time developing position players of late. But to nit pick, neither Dubois or Kelton were considered "can't miss." Patterson? Likely. Choi was probably considered close as well.

I think Bobby Hill could be included in that group as well. Maybe not quite a can't-miss, but he was expected to be a solid starter.
