Peoria shellacked Lansing today, 12-1! Kyle Reynolds hit a grand slam in the 8th and drove in 6 on the day. Scott Taylor also pitched 6 real good innings only allowing 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 2 and walking none. Kevin Collins also hit a homer and added 4 RBI's.

Taylor's a pitcher I am really excited for. The Cubs have an excellent track record in drafting players from that region (Virginia), for one. For two, I liked what I read about him from BA's scouting report on him from before the draft (intimidating presence, aggressive mentality, and plenty of room for improvement down the line). I think he will make the Cubs quite happy in the coming years.

Daytona down 7-1 in the 4th. Holliman having a real rough outing as he has allowed 6 earned runs on 6 hits. Fox is 1/2.

In Memphis, Iowa has already taken a 1-0 lead. Felix struck out looking and his average is now down to .258.

Cubs pinch-hitter Augie Ojeda was hit in the helmet by Memphis pitcher Carmen Cali in the eighth inning and charged the mound, pulling up short before a fight could ensue. Cali was ejected, as were Memphis manager Danny Sheaffer and pitching coach Dyar Miller for arguing.

"Throwing at someone is one thing, throwing at someone's head is a whole other deal," Quade said.

Nice start by O'Malley!
