Saw this on "ESPN Rumors."

Guillen's been worse than Jones this year, but if Jones doesn't pick up his production, perhaps there's a chance of getting Guillen during the summer to use as a platoon partner and bat off the bench. Of course, Guillen's a loose cannon so it could be risky bringing him in for such a role. Also, he hits righties better.

Given Washington's poor pitching maybe they take deal Guillen & a filler for J Williams.

of course, i'd rather have soriano and put him in rf.

With all the effort the front office has gone to to rid the clubhouse of malcontents, I don't see any way that they bring in Guillen.

I'd strongly consider Williams for Guillen, though I'd like to set my sights a bit higher.

Agreed, but he's the type of guy who gets hot and puts the team on his back for four weeks. Problem is that you never know what four weeks that will be.

Honestly, if the Cubs traded for someone like Guillen, it's Murton that will end up getting the short stick. There is no way that Dusty would sit Jacque Jones and his big contract, a guy who has basically never been a platoon player even though he always should have been in favor of a young kid who makes league minimum.

I'm thrilled that Dusty has played the kids. But, to expect him to sit a high paid veteran for a kid is asking for more than I believe he'd do.

There were plenty of reasons I was upset with the Jacque Jones signing. You are now seeing one of those reasons. RF was the absolute #1 biggest need these last 2 seasons and they practically ignored that hole these past 2 years. Then, when they actually got around to filling the hole, they paid premium money for mediocre talent. If it was just one year, no big deal. Now, it's going to be at least 3 years, maybe 4.

I'm not a big Dusty fan, but let's give him some credit. There's no way he would sit Murton in favor of Jones now. Murton has been the most consistent clutch hitter on this team this season and Jones has striggled since day 1. It may have taken a lot of persuading to get Dusty to play the kids, but I think he's sold on Murton and Cedeno.

I agree. I understand that some folks may have left over spite towards Dusty given his pre-06' decisions, but there is absolutely no way he could justify benching Murton. There'd be a riot. OK, may be not a riot, but certainly serious consequences. I think its more likely that we are stuck with the current OF until 07'.
