Do you really feel the need to surf the web and find any thread that disparages your beloved team and defend them vigorously?

 

Are you really surprised that you would find threads on a Cubs message board that make fun and sometimes without logic or reason the players on a rival team?

 

Does it make you a better person to come here and defend him ad nauseum? You complain about "our originality" but your schtick has grown old.

 

Do you do this at other Cub forums as well? I'm sure there are other threads all over the net that disparage your beloved.

 

It's quite clear that much of what is discussed in some of these threads is "tongue and cheek" making fun of players from a rival team, yet you try to get up on a high horse and act like some pontificating moral policeman.

 

If our place profanes you so much, why keep coming around?

 

Because I enjoy the banter. Mostly, I come here because there are several good, knowledgable posters. I've learned a thing or two. Occasionally, people start irrelevant jabbing. And I'll admit I'm a sucker...........I chime in. No, you won't find me on other boards. Take a look.

 

You ask me why I feel the need to defend myself against the rival. I guess you could ask why the rival feels the need to attack to begin with. Right?

 

What do you care if I defend? Isn't that half the fun of message boards. Again, if we all agreed, then we'd have nothing but a board full of "what he said" posts.

I don't defend all Cardinals. Encarnacion is worthless. The numbers say so. Sidney Ponson has lived his life as a jerk. His history is well-documented. If there's founded criticism, then have at it. Making gay jokes isn't "founded criticism". It's nothing more than an attempt to get a reaction. Congrats.......... you've gotten one.

 

I'm not looking for a reaction, I'm just looking for consistancy from you and I'm not seeing any.

 

So why are we homophobes and Jim isn't? "A gay question deserves a Gay answer" isn't a good enough excuse. Jim should have taken the moral highroad.

I have no desire to go to Cardstalk and find threads about Zambrano/Wood/Prior and constantly defend them. I think I would understand that those threads come with the territory, as it is a Cardinals forum.

This isn't a matter of differing opinions. You are complaining about people expressing their opinion, and you do it everytime they say something bad about one of your boys. Somebody posted an article that came up on ESPN.com, and then you go off accusing people of people homophobes for it.

I think we have plenty of dissent around here. We have good discussions. What does grow weary is a Cardinal fan who mucks up threads because we made fun of his boyfriend. It's also worse when such poster decides to accuse others of being homophobic or whatever because they made fun of his boyfriend.

 

We have other Cardinal fans here who don't feel the need to jump in these threads and act like complete douches. I lurk at Cardinal sites as well as other places. If I see someone refer to Zambrano as a "head case" I rarely will even bother to defend him. It's pointless. If I did, I certainly wouldn't do it ad naseum.

 

If there was a discussion of best pitchers of all-time, I might offer my prespective...or even on other baseball related issues, but certainly I'd know that making disparaging remarks against the Cubs would be just part of the territory.

 

Giving your opinion is ok. I'm glad we have differing views, and in fact I have what I'd call some pretty good relationships with some of the other Card fans here. But you seem to argue just for the sake of it and frankly it gets old.
