Question about Garciapara

Hey all,

 

So I picked up Garciapara, figuring he might have a great rebound season. I also have D. Lee, so I now need a new 1b. Anyone know when Nomar will be classified as a 1b on Yahoo FB?

Position players need 5 starts or 10 total appearances to become eligible at the new position. So it shouldn't be very long before he becomes eligible at 1B (that's if he can play that many games before his next injury :D ).

I'd do the trade, Shelton before the season projected to be a 300/30 guy, so from here on out he should be a decent lock for 300/25. Should have good RBIs, but will lack in runs hitting 6th. Either way, Nomar is an average hitting firstbaseman and is always an injury risk.

Agree. No way you could turn that down if Garciapara is being used as your 1st baseman. I'm assuming the guy is hurting at SS or 3B and wants to use him there.

Well, currently I have P. Nevin at 1st (picked him up off of waivers after D. Lee went down) - so Nomar is useful as a 3 position substitute.

I have Nomar as my Util now. I planned to play him at first but I have Dunn at first now. I can move Dunn to the outfield (currently Winn/Alou/Sizemore) Nomar to first when he becomes eligible if I want. I like the flexiblity because then I can just pick up a hot hitter for Util and plug him in there.

Drafting Nomar to be a 1B is a waste. His fantasy value is tied to his SS and 3B eligibility.

I drafted Dunn for 1B but when my OF draft didn't turn out as planned I drafted Nomar for 1B. I would like to bench Winn, move Dunn to OF then Nomar to 1B but I have to wait until he is eligible.
