Neifi's catch at the end of the game

Was it just me, or was that incredibly unnecessary? And I'm not talking about jumping in front of and over Jones to make the grab... I'm talking about his pompous little flip of the ball in the air followed by snagging it with his glove with a tough guy look on his face.

 

I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting because I hate him, but it just seemed awfully arrogant.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal. He sucks in much bigger ways than that. I don't mind seeing a little attitude with our players even the sucky ones.

looked like Jones didn't appreciate it either.... it would have been nice for the struggling new guy in town that just hit the game winning homer to get to make the last out, but I guess Neifi had to save the game there.

Neifi is the baseball equivalent of a ball hog. He dangerously stole a putout and a possible DP. Even though there wouldn't have been an out, he really shouldn't risk it so he can smile that big dumb grin of his. Also, he can't hit.

It was posted in the game thread from Sunday by Vance. Apparently he's the only Cub in 2 years Vance can't get to sign, and that was his given reason why.

 

Which is hilarious. I'd be willing to bet I could get more from my autograph on EBay than Neifi could.

I don't want to start a whole Neifi bashing thing, but what else is Cedeno going to say? Is he going to call him out in ST to the press? Saying a veteran is helping you as a young player is the standard cliche line.

If any two guys were going to be injured, I would care the least of the two did, especially if they hit each other. Then again Jones is playing a little better. Did he really injure his hand high-fiving guys in the dugout after his homer?

Not that it was a bad play for Jones not to call it either, because it looked like he wasn't sure he was going to get there, then lost sight of it right when he realized he could get to it, then saw it again when it was too late to call it.

the point of my rather detailed description was to point out that it appeared Jones did not know he could could get to it until it was too late to call it, and regardless of where the play is, you don't call it unless you know you can get to it.
