This is a Rant, but fantasy related. Feel free to move.

If you saw this following trade had been accepted would you think someone was cheating or that someone was a huge idiot:

Reggie Sanders and Jack Wilson

for

Utely and Abreu

Heres the story in case you are interested:

I immediately thought cheating and although the two teams did not have the same username the guy on the losing end of the trade had not been in any other leagues for any sport at any time. That along with the fact that only an idiot could make such a trade was enough for me to make post complaining about the cheatingand makin sure everyone was gonna veto it. Then I see after looking closer that the winner of this trade is the commish. So I made a post saying its a dead league, the commish is cheating. Then one more post saying just in case the other user was just flat out stupid I was gonna try to take his good players(and I did make that trade proposal).

Today I checked up to see how that had resolved itself and the commish made a post calling me a dumb sack of ****. No big deal really just gave me a laugh. He locked me from doing anything, and it really wasn't an issue, the other leagues I am in will keep me busy enough, so its no big loss that I wont be in this league. But the commish then made another post saying because of what I did he was banning voting on trades, so now its all up to him. Yea, now I really believe that hes not cheating.

I know I'll be told just to jon leagues with people I know but no one I know is into this so that isn't really an option. But really why do people want to win SO badly against a bunch of strangers over the internet that they go as far as to create seperate yahoo accounts so they can trade with themselves.

In 2001, I joined a Sandbox.com league and my team absolutely ran away with the league. It really wasn't even close. Then, 4 teams decided to combine into 2 to stop me. I finished 3rd. I'm still bitter.

If you dont have any friends that do fantasy then you need new friends. Or just join a league with some one here. Thats absolutely ridiculous though. At the very least i happened early so you didnt waste too much time managing your team.

In my case, it was friends.

Real friends dont cheat in fantasy baseball.

In either of the cases posted above, were the league for fun or were they prize leagues? Either way cheating is extremely immature but I am just curious if there is some motive behind it besides winning?

I would at least file a complaint with the administrators of the league. They won't do much about the free leagues, and probably nothing at all, but at least you get this persons name in their system.

You do have recourse. I don't know how many teams in the league there are, but I would contact each one (outside of the two teams in question) privately and inform them that they should all speak up on the message board about the unfairness with the league, and that if the trade isn't reversed and voting rights to decline trades isn't reactivated, that all teams will abandon their teams. See if you can get him to back down. I was never one to stay quiet when I saw something I didn't like.

I hope this isn't the only fantasy team you joined. Keep a list of email addresses of people you enjoy competing against in fantasy leagues. When next season rolls around, they will be pleased that someone asked them to compete in a league. There are probably a lot more people like you that doesn't have a long list of friends that want to play fantasy baseball. Therefore, keep tabs on those that you do enjoy competing with.

I was in a money league with a couple kids form my school the previous 2 years (notice I didn't call 'em friends, I didn't really like 'em...just wanted to take their money). I won the league, and $100 2 years ago, last year I was in second and me and the kid in first got locked. Sadly the commish had 2 teams both years (but he didn't trade within them at least) and finished in last and second to last both times, even after locking us around the ASB. We didn't pay him or anything, I was just mad cuz it was an easy $100.

Well the commish had said he would ban voting against trades for the day and still hasn't followed through on restoring it.

I'm still locked and I don't envsion that changing, but I'll keep tabs for a little while at least because now there is some heated discussion in the message boards although it is a little unclear about what cuz its just a slew of uncomprehedible grammar and swearing.

Thanks for the tip on emails BigBadB. I'll make sure to make a list at the end of the season based on people who stayed active and such.

Wrigley...I can hook you up with good leagues if you want to avoid that sort of thing. All sports and not just baseball, if you are interested

A guy in my league offered me Vlad for Delgado. I already have Konerko and Thome so I obviously accepted it. It was vetoed quickly though. This kind of made me mad b/c the guy that offered the trade is in 1st and I'm in 2nd. If he is in 1st it's obvious he isn't trying to help me. Plus everyone in the league knows each other. I think my friend that is the commish told ppl. to veto it b/c he hates for me to win. I beat him 13-0 this week though so I felt a little better.

It gets even better:

New Message from the commish reads:

TITLE: u "dummies" who vetoed

"i can always drop abreu and utley and sanders and wilson and do the trade myself. im the comish. in fact, i think i will do that"

Its like free comedy. At least he admits to cheating now.

CubbyBlue if you could send me a PM that'd be great.

Im against vetoing a trade where even though its somewhat lopsided its made in good faith. Although that one is pretty darn lopsided. Its not like the other guy has 4 better outfielders than Vlad. Or that he can reasonably expect Delgado to do better than Vlad for the rest of the year.

Can a new Yahoo league start now if you put one together? Here's what I would do. Create a league (assuming you can) and invite all the "victims" in your league to play in your league. Fill the remaining spots with anyone who would be interested. Once you get the new league set up, have everyone dump their players in this other league so that the "commish" can't have any more fun at the expense of others.

Beat him at his own game. How fun will it be for him to beat up on an abandoned league?

I think they are still accepting new leagues, but Live Drafts are over and you have a four team limit and I would guess most people, myself included have hit that limit.

Well, if you have that many teams, it's really a non issue. Send an email to the other teams in the league apologizing for abandoning your team, and kindly ask that they do the same.

If you have all those other teams, it's really not worth the headache to mess with it any further, though.
