I found this idea rather interesting.

Griffey thought the international experience was so cool, he has his own globalization proposal for Bud Selig:

One team leaves Florida or Arizona every spring and spends two or three weeks playing games in Korea, Japan, Taiwan or wherever the globalization train carries them.

We asked him what he thought the odds were of George Steinbrenner signing off on that trip, leaving Legends Field vacant for half of spring training.

"OK," he said. "All 30 teams should have to go. But they can go 30th."

that makes no sense to me????????????????//

I think I've read it four or five times and I'm still not sure what Griffey is implying.

I think he means that one team should play its spring training games in a foreign market against foreign teams instead of spending it in Florida or Arizona.

Similar to what some basketball fans have suggested for the Olympics - that whoever wins the championship that year goes and competes against the foreign teams.

There are countless reasons why that would never work, including the hit to the team's spring training home's economy and the inability to get minor leaguers as needed/send them to minor league camp. It's far too impractical.
