the bulls have the knicks' 1st rounder next year, too, right?

They have the right to swap 1st round picks next year -- so they will get NY's pick next year just as long as the Bulls end up with a better record (and it would be shocking if they don't).

Do they get to wait until after the lottery next year to make that decision? When is the decision due to be made?

All reports I've read say that if the Bulls land the #1 pick that they are taking Tyrus Thomas. Otherwise it's likely Aldridge

The Bulls have the option of swapping draft position with the Knicks next year after the final draft order has been set.

In that case I hope with all of my might that someone gets ahead of him and takes him.

I have no desire to watch another Tyson Chandler.

What of Tyrus Thomas reminds you of Chandler?

His total lack of an offensive game outside of jumping and dunking for starters.

He's got tons of athletic ability. Tools, if you will. What he doesn't have is the ability to help this team offensively in the front court.

I'd much prefer a draft of Aldridge and a Redick or something like that, and then go and sign Al Harrington, than draft a guy like Thomas who isn't ready for the NBA both mentally and physically, not to mention skill-wise.

Thomas actually has a nice jump shot. He's not my number one guy (I'd rather have Aldridge or Bargnani, and to a lesser extent Morrison), but he wouldn't be an awful pick. I think his ceiling is a lot higher than where Chandler is. I don't want Roy.

I don't think he's a guy who will ever be the best player on a good team. I don't like spending a top 3 pick on someone like that. Aldridge could be, as could Morrison.

Of the top 5 guys in the draft, Thomas is the one I'd like the least. He's not going to contribute to the team next year, he's really young and raw, and isn't as offensively skilled as the other options.

Well, none of us can be certain what Bargnani will do.

And Thomas has a great mid-range jumper that should allow him to contribute next season.

At the very least, Thomas will be a force on the glass and a shot-changer his rookie year. He's not as polished as either Aldridge or Morrison offensively, but those two have as many questions about their overall games as Thomas does, and Thomas has the highest potential of the three.

Not to mention his freakish leaping ability. There are players with excellent verts, and then there's Thomas.

How will he be able to create said shot?

Again, please draft Roy, trade for Marion and sign The Pryz. Each is ready to provide help now and make major contributions, not to mention giving us two guys who can get their own shot, and a guy who will help Noc enforce in the paint.

Why is Marion available? I haven't heard anything of the sort.

Most articles I have read (and I admit that I read them either in the TRib by Smith or on ESPN.com by guys like Ford and Bucher, but cannot find the links) say that the Suns will shop Marion now that they have re-upped Amari, largely b/c Marion is due for more money. We have plenty of chips to make a deal (if, of course, its true that he will be on the block).

Sam Smith floated the idea out there last week because he's bored.

Do you think Roy's the best player in the draft?

I am not sure that he is, but I do think he is the most ready to help us now. I guess I am adverse to another project, and Thomas, while clearly gifted, is a project.

One player from this draft will not make the Bulls a finals team next year. I think Roy could help the team more next year, but Thomas/Aldridge/Bargnani are likely to contribute more down the road. The Bulls are a superstar away from contending and the best shot at a superstar is the draft, even a "down" draft like this one.

I think worst case scenario is that Thomas ends up being the next Eddie Robinson.

Thomas is a hard worker by all reports. I can't see that happening at all.

I meant a high flyer who can dunk and dazzle but can't create his own shot. Thomas is already a better defender than Robinson ever was
