well, if my stupid job had a stupid office in stupid Arizona, then maybe I could go, but noooooooooo...they don't.

I would love that job though. I guess if someone lives in Arizona, they could start that business and have a few employees go to the games that are not televised and give a play by play of the game via the internet.

It couldn't be vocal with me though, I cuss too much watching the Cubs.

still 6-1 in the top of the sixth, I have no idea who is pitching, but I hope it is still Williams, because that would mean he had his best outing of the spring.

now, because I am bored, I'm going to play a little game of "If Spring Break Really Mattered!"

In the Grapefruit League

Florida

Cleveland

Cincinnati

and the Phillies are in the playoffs

Florida vs. Phillies

and

Cincinnati vs. Indians

In the Cactus League

Kansas City

Angels

DBack

and Padres all make the Playoffs

KC vs. Padres

and

Anaheim (I refuse to call them LA) vs. the D'Backs

man, I am bored.

Anaheim (I refuse to call them LA)

Why? That's what their name was originally.

When was that? I thought they were always the California Angels before they changed to Anaheim from the franchise conception. Were they the LA Angels before that?

Assuming that Wood and Prior are back by the all-star break, the Cubs will have 8 potential starters (Z, Maddux, Wood, Prior, Williams, Marshall, Guzman, Hill). There is always a market for starters at the break. If the Cubs are out of it, everyone except Z and Prior are available IMO. If they're in it, I would see what Hill, Guzman or Williams could get. And I could be easily swayed for Prior as well.

We should be dealing with the Angels for some of their stud middle infield prospects.

Yep. LA > California > Anaheim > LA

I'll be. That must have been before I was old enough to follow baseball.

Fer got em but the point is the same. At some point the team will either recognize the emerging abilities of Marshall/Hill/Guz and see what they can get for the others, or keep shuttling pitchers between Iowa and Chicago. Although given the injury history of scertain stud righ handers maybe that's a good option to have. When is it time to see what Wood/Prior can get on the open market, or do we simply see them walk in FA for nothing?

I doubt the Cubs are in the mood to trade their young pitchers (Marshall, Hill and Guzman). Next season, Maddux and (potentially) Wood's spots in the rotation will be up for grabs. There may be other openings as well depending on what the Cubs plan to do with Rusch and Williams in the future.

won't the Cubs at least get draft picks for them if they let them walk?

You forgot about Wade Miller, who I'm hoping with regain his form upon his return in late May. He could be a big boost to the rotation.

If the Cubs are out of it, I would trade Maddux, Williams and Wood at the deadline. Build around Z, Prior, and 2 of Marshall/Guzman/Hill. Sign a stud FA starter in the offseason (Zito?) if Miller doesn't pan out otherwise he's your #4.
