Grady Sizemore and the Indians have agreed upon a contract extension that takes him through the 2011 season.

The deal will pay him $23.45 million and the team also holds an $8.5 million option for 2012. The new regime in Cleveland is following the old regime's path of locking up young stars early. It worked well the first time and having Sizemore around for at least the next six years is a big move.

Nice move by Shapiro. I know there's a few on this board (including myself) who would have liked to see Sizemore in Wrigley at some point in the future.

Call me crazy....but the Cubs...IMO, have a similar player already in their system...Felix Pie. I know he gets alot of comparasion, and hypes, but I fully believe that Pie will be a Sizemore type player for the Cubs before 2007, is out...if not sooner.

I agree on your assessment of Pie's potential. But there's no reason why we couldn't have Sizemore and Pie in the same outfield. :D
