The Cubs travel to Tempe Diablo stadium to take on the Angels today in a rare 1 PM CT start. Carlos Zambrano gets his final tune-up start before opening the season for the Cubs in Cincinatti.

The game is being carried by the Angels affiliate, station ESPN710 and should be available on MLBaudio. For those with XM radio, the game is scheduled for channel 182. (Damn, I miss my XM!!!)

The Cubs are 14-11 on the spring and go for their 15th win today.

All that warm Arizona air, and the scantily clad women, must be really rough eh Bruce?

I was there last weekend. There are quite a few scantily clad women in the stands who should descantify their clad. It was a rough sight.

If Cedeno doesn't do well out of the gate in the first month....take out Blanco and put in Barrett and this is the starting lineup for the rest of the year. Cedeno has played below average this spring training.

I think Cedeno will get more than a month, but if we're still in it when the cavalry arrives and he's still not doing well, Neifi is our guy.

I agree and I have no problem with that. You gotta have the best guys out there that you can win with. I really hope Cedeno steps it up once the season starts. He's looked aweful this Spring.

About time the Cubs play the Angels when I'm in town AND the local radio isn't playing the other Angels split squad game.

As Vance said, it's AM 710 for those of us in Southern California.

Cubs Press Notes

Over the Cubs’ last six games, Chicago pitchers have held

opponents to a .204 batting average with runners in scoring

position (11-54).

© Over the team’s last two games, opponents have just

four hits in 24 at-bats with runners in scoring position …

the White Sox went 2-for-11 against the Cubs on

Monday and Seattle went 2-for-13 yesterday.

Is this a split squad for the Angels today, Bruce? Thanks for all of the info. Any talk on the waiver wire, i.e., what type of player Hendry is on the lookout for?

(And Bruce has left the building before I could submit my post ... my stupid job obligations. They just don't pay me enough to keep me from distracting myself with reading and yammering about Cubs baseball.)

yeah, it's hardly a feast for the eyes at those games.

Not a bad lineup. As long Neifi is batting the 7th or 8th, basically on the bottom of the order, I won't complain too much.

Granted, I would had liked Cedeno instead of Neifi, but apparently, Cedeno is struggling as of this moment.

Hopefully Cedeno can get out of that funk.

I guess that's why it was good we signed Neifi to a 2 year deal. As much as people complain about him, he makes a heck of a backup player...

It's not a split squad for the Angels, but I do believe some have broken camp already for a split squad tomorrow at San Francisco.

I don't see any major moves. The Cubs feel someone like Bynum might even make the A's.

Why does that make it good he was signed to a 2 year deal? He's a decent backup if he's a backup. If he's pushed into the starting role by a management group that can't be patient with a developing rookie, he's not good for the team.

What about the rumor we've heard of Kielty?
