yeah Bruce... have you heard anything knew on extending Lee, I heard that his agent was on the Score today and said that he won't go below Konerko's deal :(

They continue to talk. That's about it. I don't think anything is imminent, but my gut feeling is that something gets done.

Do you think talks were slowed up b/c of the shoulder?

btw, thanks for the pbp. :D

No, the shoulder had nothing to do with the talks "slowing." The agent has other clients, and both sides are taking their time.

Just like last year, Cubs only scoring when Lee and Ramirez knock each other in.

And just like last year, the boys who bat 1 and 2 in the lineup are not getting on base in front of them.

Grrr.

I'd be happy if they got the deal done on opening day and he gives the Cubs a 'Thank You' performance like Aram did last year.... just hope he doesn't then go into a slump like Aram did.

Cubs fourth

Mabry leads off with a line single. He steals second and takes third on a throwing error by the catcher.

Murton walks on a 7-8 pitch plate appearance. Nice.

Murton CS 1-4-3 as he gets caught off first base

Pagan strikes out.

Rusch strikes out.

Okay he was caught stealing...but can I just reiterate how much Murton rocks! I have a feeling that we're going to be enjoying him play for the Cubs for quite some time. The man knows how to hit! Little Paul Moliter? :D

this is what Rusch does everytime we get to the breaking point with him, he goes out and completely dominates the other team.

Very optimistic.

Hey, I said "little!"

If I was optimistic, I'd say Tony Gwynn with more power!

I just really like Matty. He has an exceptional approach to the plate and an exceptional work ethic. I hope he's in LF for the Cubs for years to come.

MURTON 7 WALKS ,2 K'S.OUTSTANDING

Fricking base clogger.

Way to go Matt! 8)

Murton was the real deal and it was Hendry's coup that brought him and Nomar to the Cubs. Nomar was a working part and if he fit in great. Murton was the bright fiture that Hendry wanted more then Nomar. My Red Sox bretherin still hate the trade!!

Watching Murton's approach to an at-bat compared to say Corey Patterson's was night and day.

1st and 2nd spots will get somewhat more than 22.2% of PA's, however.

Duly noted. In fact, last year 1 & 2 accounted for 24.5% of the PA's

24.5% of th PA's and 24.6% of the runs scored.

Sorry but with Ramirez and Lee behind them the 1-2 spots should be doing more than average in the run scoring department. What if your 3-4 hitters just did 23% of the RBI in 23% of the PA's? We'd be screaming, that's what!
