I actually like the idea of rotating a couple of the young guys out there until the Wood/Prior/Miller injuries are settled. What better of a time to see if any of them having major league pitching abilities than in April.

Also, something completely off topic. What do IMO and JMO stand for? I've always wondered about those abbreviations.

Yea, how about sending one of our young guys out there and tell them to give it everything they have for 3-4 innings and then relieve them with another for 3-4 innings, etc. If they only have to go through the batting order once, they might be able to fool the other team.

Hill is the only one who has pitched at the AAA or major league level.Theres still time for him to get it together. With Wellemeyer out of options I'm suprised hes not been mentioned by the Cubs.He hasn't been traded yet and there might not be room.

I'll take Daniel Cabrera. Other than that, there isn't much the O's have that I'm interested in (our rumored trade partner).

Of course we won't get Cabrera. We'll end up with a used jockstrap (Matos) after taking on a good chunk of Walker's salary.

I wonder if one more Wood or Prior setback would make Jim and Dusty consider moving Dempster to the rotation. Not ideal, but with Z, Maddux and 3 big question marks............it would be a desperate solution to a increasingly desperate situation.

I would hope not, Dempster is much much better in his current role. I would much rather start three guys from the minors.

people, consider the source. Santo isn't exactly known for breaking big transaction news. He's usually lucky to know what day it is and what town he's in.

...or he's too busy arguing about where to eat lunch with Pat during the bottom of the 9th. :x

Dusty mentioned 4 guys for the 5th spot,Guzman,Hill,Ryu,and Marshall.Probably woulnd't pitch up here till the 15th.

I think you would have to eliminate Guzman as he is not ready to handle any kind of load, needs to make some starts in the minors. Marshall would be interesting but he needs a bit more time as well. I think it comes down to Hill and Ryu (hopefully) and I would be fine with either.

In the case of Guzman, why would pitching one start in the majors be any more of a strain than pitching in the minors?

The adrenaline of making his first major league start could cause him to overthrow. But that's going to happen at some point in time. I would like to see some proof that his arm is built up and stable a little more before putting him in that situation. On the other hand, how long can you baby the guy? You can't carry him in the system forever without putting him into a potentially taxing situation sooner or later.

I don't want to see Marshall pushed, I think brining him up now would be more of a detriment to his long term progress. I think Ryu could be brought up now and not get hit too hard without setting him back long term.

The first ST broadcast against the A's his first words (regarding the great weather in Arizona) were:

"It's been like this all winter, Pat. I've been down here since April."
