I believe 14 innings is the cutoff for a tie game. Transmogrified Tiger is correct, though, in that this game no longer matters to Team USA. Assuming we beat South Africa tomorrow, the conditions for Team USA to advance were either a victory for Canada over Mexico OR a Mexico victory in which Mexico scored 3 or more runs. Mexico is up 9-1 going into the top of the 7th, and thus with a win over South Africa, Team USA will advance regardless of the outcome of this game.

I realize they now have nine, but had mexico won 3-2 in extra innings, the US would have been out because the tiebreaker is runs per inning, not just runs. the three runs they needed assumed a 9 inning game.
