Oh man I remember that Gracie HR! I was actually at the game the day before when Sosa hit his 60th. Missed history by 1 day :(

But that was a crazy series if anyone remembers it. Its the only 3 game or more series that both teams have scored more then 10 runs every game in the series

I was at that game.. Didn't miss history by one day. :D

Seeing 61 and 62 was awesome. Then topping it off with a walkoff was icing on the cake.

The most exhilirating non-playoff series for me, ever. Sammy hit HRs 59-62 during that series, and Beck got the win in the last two games. Anyone else remember the walkoff HR by Orlando Merced?

Nice videos Bixby.

Merced's homer was nuts. I was a 15 year old kid sitting in the bleachers when it happened. It was pure bedlam after that, with random people foolishly celebrating by throwing everything they could get their hands on onto the field. I had an entire beer land on me. Kinda a shameful way to celebrate, but it was fun nonetheless

I made a last minute road trip back from NY that weekend. Made it to the Sammy/Merced game and that place went nuts. Man, that ended up being a good weekend road trip.

I don't care what anyone says, I miss Chip and Stoney.

Me too...those two played off each other better than any broadcast team in the business, bar none.

Ditto.

I hate how they left....and every time I open up a beer with my cubs bottle opener...the "Swung on....BELTED.....Cubs win...Cubs win...Cubs win..." it just makes me wish he was still here.

I got some major mid-term assignments for school coming up. I'll try to put some more on later. I'll definitely get Sammy's 61st and 62nd.

I miss Stoney. Though I can't say the same for Chip, I will say I'd rather have him as our play by play man than Kasper. Not that Len's necessarily bad but he just doesn't do it for me. Guesss you don't realize how much you tolerated the guy til he's gone. Weird how that works.

I liked Chip and Stoney, and I was worried that we were headed for a "grass is greener" situation with the new announcer. But Len exceeded my expectations, he's much better than Chip. Bob isn't very good, but analysts aren't of much interest to me anyways. Very very few add anything of value to a broadcast.

I miss Farns....

Okay, not really... But I do like his velocity, and he goes Bears on the Cubs.

I miss the farns.

Really.

I still firmly believe he's going to be a very solid setup man/closer for years to come.

With the Yankees? Good luck with that.

What does that mean? I beleive he is already penciled in as their setup man ahead of flash.

He's also in front of David Cone and Jimmy Key.

Gordon went to Philadelphia.

I knew that....I was just making sure you were paying attention...

So really, what does that mean? he's scheduled to be their setup man now, why cant he be a good one w/ the yankees?
