2000 Frank Thomas who didnt win MVP, but lost in like the very end of the season to Roid Man Jason Giambi. Thomas wasn't an All-Star and even not winning MVP he actually had a better season the Giambi. My friend always bitches about it hes a Sox fan so he wanted me to post this. I actually agree with him though Thomas got robbed that year.

I'm pretty sure Terry Pendleton is on this list. I don't even think he made an all-star game his entire career but screwed barry bonds out of the award in '92.

Pendleton made the All Star team in 1992 and Bonds won the MVP award.

Ahh my mistake, thanks for the correction my memory failed me. I should have researched this one a bit before posting. I was right, Pendleton does belong on this list as he won the MVP in '91 without making the all-star team, all the while screwing Bonds out of the award.

Giambi deserved it that over Thomas that year.

Kirk Gibson never made an all star team.

I think he might be the only guy to win an MVP but never make an all star team during his career.

Correct on Gibson in 1988.

In a continuing theme the voters of the NL decided they would rather watch Vince Coleman and Rafael Palmeiro then Kirk Gibson.

How about that for odd? Who would have guessed that Rafael was an all-star player with the Cubs?

The Cubs had two starters. Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg. On top of that they also had Rafael Palmeiro, Vance Law, and Dunston on the bench and Maddux in the pitching staff. A whole lot of all-stars for team that would end up with a losing record. I guess it pays to wait until you past the half-way mark before you collpase. 45-40 before the break, 32-45 after the break including a 9-20 September.

The cubs had a nice post AS Break collapse in 85, 87, and 88.

I know there were more, but those 3 come to mind right off the bat.

compare Giambi and Thomas numbers. They are close, but Thomas has better numbers. Plus Giambi is Roided up so he doesn't deserve it. ha ha

you can obviously see I just dont like Giambi.

I did look at the numbers for 2000, and I don't see Thomas better.

Both had 43 homeruns. Thomas led Giambi by 6 RBI, 143 to 137. However, Giambi had a higher batting average (333 to 328), a higher on-base percentage (476 to 436) and a higher slugging percentage (647 to 625). Regardless of your feelings about Giambi, he deserved the award over Thomas that season.

Correct on Yount in 1989. Finally an AL non all-star. That year the AL voters perferred Kirby Puckett and Devon White over Yount, and took Plesac as their Brewer representative.

Aight I just thought I'd throw it out there. My friend mainly wanted me too. I still take Thomas over Giambi any day though on my team.
