This article in the Cincinnati Post lists the main candidates for the Reds' GM position.

 

Johnny Almaraz, the Reds' director of international scouting and player development

 

Jim Beattie, the former Expos and Orioles general manager who came aboard this week as a special adviser to Reds CEO Bob Castellini

 

Wayne Krivsky, the Twins' assistant general manager and a finalist the last time the Reds' GM job was open

 

Brad Kullman, the Reds' director of major league operations and interim GM

 

Leland Maddox, a special assistant to the general manager and professional scout for the Reds who served alongside Kullman as co-interim GM after Jim Bowden was fired in 2003

 

John Mozeliak, the Cardinals' assistant general manager

 

Others mentioned by the article are Frank Wren, Dan Jennings, Michael Hill, Kim NG, and Logan White. The article does not mention Gary Hughes as a candidate.

Will it matter? I wonder if this owner is going to be another Steinbrenner but without the cash flow. He's going to [expletive] up anything his GM will try to do, and do it all in the name of winning.

If I somehow get the job, I vow to trade Dunn, Lopez, Freel, Griffey, and $20 million to the Cubs for Neifi, Brownlie, Rusch, and Koronka.
