He talks over the play-by-play partner, is a master of the obvious, and all around idiot.

This is what I don't get about TV networks and studio hosts.

 

They pour so much money into these guys, and so many of them are so bad, but people do not turn into games for the hosts. No matter what MNF host was in the booth the past 20 years (during the cable/internet/other media boom) people kept watching in decreasing numbers. NFL fans are not tuning into NFL games for the guys in the booth. While they might think the players add an aura of credibility to the job of analyzing the game, most people who know about the game think most of these guys suck. I'm guessing the amount of money they have to throw at pro athletes to get them to agree to take these jobs is much more than what they'd have to pay some complete unknown who has some background in broadcasting a solid understanding of the game. They have to be able to find good young cheap guys to do this job. And I don't see how it could possibly hurt the ratings.

Naturally, he does a lot of Panthers games. The NFL simply hates our team.

 

He calls Steve Smith "Steven Smith". The best wide receiver in the game today and he can't even say his name correctly.

I'm not a big NFL watcher, most of the time I follow the games online cause the Bucs are never on TV. But the times I've heard Maas I didn't have a problem with him, except for the first time when I thought he sounded like Matt Millen and I was confused.
