"Washington Nationals Jose Vidro said he doesn't intend to give up second base to please new arrival Alfonso Soriano."

"Soriano "is a tremendous plus for the team. But I'm a bit confused about what can happen if he doesn't want to play left field," Vidro told the local daily, El Nuevo Dia for Tuesday's editions."

If Jose is indeed healthy, someone is going to have to give in... or get dealt!

If we have to trade Walker and Vidro is healthy, let's get him and pass on Tejada.

Anything to keep Prior.

Vidro is pretty good, but doesn't he have some chronic problem either in his knees or in his back? That's not something I'd give up something decent for. And at, what, 9 million a season?

Easy pass.

Vidro is a switch hitter who has a very strong arm.

In 75 games before getting injured last season, he hit 275/339/424. That's not all that impressive, but his three preceding seasons he hit

294/367/454, 310/397/470, and 315/378/490.

He's 30 years old, so those three seasons were likely his peak. If healthy, he could hit 285/360/450 as a switch hitting two-hole hitter.

Depending on what the Nationals were asking for him, I'd definitely take a look.

If I could get him for Jerome Williams and Patterson or something of the like, I'd take him.

Hmm you mean exactly what we'd likely get out of Walker except Walker is healthy.

I guess thats a reasonable trade off for a guy that can 'catch the ball'

Soriano needs to shut up and realize that the best move for his career is to move to left field. I think I read somewhere that he once played outfield for the Yankees in spring training and looked pretty good, has anyone else heard that?

Yep...but if Hendry has to trade Walker, Vidro is at least one 2b who wouldn't be a step down.

Vidro didn't have surgery on his knee in the offseason? And he's going to play for Puerto Rico?

This is such a disaster waiting to happen. I would be absolutely shocked if he plays more than 80 games next season. And then its hello Neifi for 80 games.

He's actually not going to play for Puerto Rico. The Nats are using his injury to exempt him from the tournament.

Vance, not that I'm doubting you, but I'm searching for that info on Vidro and cannot find it in any recent updates with regards to Vidro.

Do you have a link for that?

Right here.

Vidro, who would like to play for his native Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, said Washington has told him he can't play because of his injury.

"I'm going to try to get a better explanation," Vidro said, "because my knee is in perfect shape."

I have nothing to add to this topic. I just want to know what Vance's avatar is all about.

It's one of the characters from Veggie Tales, IINM. Larry the Cucumber, I think.
