I wonder if the Cubs will inquire about Hudson? He certainly fits with the strong defense m.o. Hendry is pushing. Could they get Mench+Hudson for Walker+Patterson+Wellemeyer? Cedeno/Hudson would be a very good young middle opinion IMO.

Wow. Congrats Angels on the trade.

Um...D-Backs?

He's only a year behind. Give him a break.

No need to downgrade at 2nd base too. Hudson is good, but Walker is as solid as it gets offensively. I refuse to believe that Hendry actually is trying to move this guy.

When you say too, I have to ask where it is that you think we have downgraded so far? Unless you are counting what might have been if Nomar had ever been healthy in a Cubs uni.

As of right now I have to say that the Blue Jays are probably the second best team in the AL East. This could be a real down year for the Red Sox. They need Mike Lowell to bounce back.

I was thinking Nomar, especially if Neifi gets a lot of PT at SS this year over Cedeno, and also Jones is a downgrade to Burnitz, ever so slightly. Mostly based on Jones' contract and the fact that Burnitz loved playing here and always gave 100%, I fear Jones won't do the same.

I agree, Blue Jays fans have to be thrilled with their activity this offseason.

Haha....oh...umm...hmm.

I really can not defend myself here.

Fair enough. I sincerely hope Neifi is used properly this year, regardless of whether we are looking at Cedeno/Walker or Cedeno/Lugo-Hudson-Tejada-etc. If he starts more than 25 games and there isn't a major injury, I will likely lose more respect for this organization. I for one would have liked to see Nomar back, but am amenable to seeing what happens with this movement towards improved defense. We will have to agree to disagree on the Burnitz/Jones difference. I see Jones as an ever so slight upgrade over Burnitz, and I think you will see him bring the same enthusiasm that made it hard to dislike Burnitz, even when he sucked. What would be really nice is if they insist on trading Patterson and Walker if they could get Hudson and Wilkerson somehow, but I really doubt that happens. Murton could platoon with Jones in LF and give the injury-prone Wilkerson frequent days off RF.

I hope you're right about Jones. I have a hard time disliking players who give it their all and show their love for the game, regardless of how bad they are. If we could still work out a deal for Wilkerson that'd be great, but I think Hendry is set on this starting outfield unfortunately.

Forgetting the Cubs for a second (since this is a thread about the BJs, DBacks and Glaus), the Jays have to move an IFer now, don't they?:

Hinske

Koskie

Glaus

Oh well, having two guys whose names end in "ski" yet are spelled in two different ways was too good to be true anyway... :cyclopsani:

Forget Mench/Hudson... deal 'em Walker, CP, Murton and Williams for Hudson and Green. Then turn Prior and Hill into Tejada and Bedard. THEN, deal Bedard, Hudson, and Gallagher for Zito!

Pierre, Green, Lee, Tejada, ARam, Jones, Barrett, and Cedeno...

Z, Zito, Wood, Maddux, FA (Weaver?)

I'd take that. And, please don't talk to me about mortgaging the furture for a chance to win now. If the Cubs have proven anything, it's that they can royally screw up a future.

I am pretty sure Hinske is gone (I think they are hoping he just dosen't show up for ST) with Hildenbrand/Koskie/Glaus manning 1B/3B/DH...oops forgot about Overbay..my guess is that H'band would be next to go.

Holy cow that's quite a log jam.

1Bs: Overbay, Hinske and Hillenbrand

3Bs: Koskie, Glaus

They just signed Koskie last year. Somebody is getting spun off for more pitching. Riccardi is going for it this year. I guess he smells blood with the Red Sox being weakend and the Yanks aging.

My guess will be Glaus at third (I believe for him to waive his NTC, he was guarantee a starting spot at 3rd base), with Overbay at 1st, with Koskie at DH. So, Hinske to Baltimore for plat of speghetto O's, and a case root beer, might do the trick. Then trade Hillenbrand, to the Yankees, cause they need another "stud" hitter.......
