Carlos Lee in 2007??

The Cubs might not want to tie up their corner spots for the long term.

 

Floyd becomes a free agent next year and has told friends he would like to end his career back home in Chicago. Another possibility in 2007 is Milwaukee left fielder Carlos Lee, who kept his home in Chicago after being traded from the White Sox and still harbors a grudge against Sox general manager Ken Williams and manager Ozzie Guillen. Unless the Brewers sign him to a long-term deal, Lee's top choice as a free agent would be returning to Chicago with the Cubs.

It just seems like another wait until next year thing to me. CLee is ok but not the impact bat I would like to see the Cubs aquire.

If we're looking towards '07, Lee and Floyd aren't so great that I'm chomping at the bit right now to get either. When the time comes they may be the best course of action, but there's a lot to be done between now and then.

I just mentioned this in another thread....but if his contract expires after this 2006, why wouldn't the Brew Crew trade him away at the break for something? They're a small market team...

This is more from the Cubs just trying to let the fans down slowly that the Cubs are not going to be making the necessary moves to compete this year. Just another load of b.s. from the Tribune.

Lee is overrated. I wouldn't want him at his next contract.

 

He's no better than Jermaine Dye.

 

These careers numbers from a corner OF don't solve the Cubs problems:

He'd be a fallback option if they can't get really good players. But by no means should he be a focus.

And maybe Hendry can trick Mark Shapiro into trading Cliff Lee to the Cubs, and then we would have something....

waiting for the big contracts to be up....had to wait for sammy to be traded...everybody overpaid.....we are waiting to get floyd and lee in 07.

Exactly. If you ask me the excuses for Hendry have to stop.
