Who said Neifi will get 200 PAs in the #2 hole in 2006, are you nuts? Hendry is intent on trading Walker, that means Perez is your #2 hitter for 600 PAs in 2006, courtesy of resident genius Johnnie Baker.

2006 is going to be 2002 all over again, book it. An ugly ugly year. I just hope one outcome from it is that the GM and manager get the axe again.

One must first be fired before they can be fired AGAIN! :D

neifi simply can not hit 2nd.

because as of right now he is hitting 5th and playing rf,ss and 2b...at the same time! dusty couldn't let cedeno AND murton start. so obviously neifi is going to start at several positions! unless you hit macias fifth...think about that for a while.

Well, if it's any consolation, Pierre scored 96 runs last year and 100 runs in both 2004 & 2003 (108 in 2001) and 90 in 2002. He'll get on base enough to make it close but everything depends on the guys hitting behind him.

Yeah, but that's the part of the equation we had right already. I think Pierre scores 100 with Lee and ARam 3&4, but I'm not sure its enough to make the offense great. As usual, this year depends on Wood and Prior. If Zambrano is the best starter, the season will not be a success.

Um... Zambrano is probably the best pitcher even if they are all 3 healthy and pitching the best baseball of their lives.

EDIT: I take that back. I thought about it and decided that, in game 7 of the World Series, I definitely want Prior on the mound over Z.

Your first statement is right, but Wood and Prior have higher ceilings. Maybe I overstated it, but the point is that if Prior and Wood don't step up and fulfill their potential, this team goes nowhere. If they do step up, the difference between Abreu and J. Jones, or the difference between Pierre and Patterson won't keep the Cubs out of the playoffs. Its all about pitching.
