Would Shea Hillenbrand be starting at third and Prince Fielder at first? If so what do they do with Bill Hall?

No matter what I think it is a good deal for both teams.

I would think Bill Hall and J.J. Hardy will compete for the starting SS job in Spring Training. If Hardy wins, Hall probably gets the utility infielder job.

Looks to me like a pretty good deal for both teams. JP's making a splash and has really made some strides this offseason.

I think Milwaukee blew this one, they should have been able to do better for Overbay than this, IMO.

Question: Hall can play SS, can't he? If so, should the Cubs be interested? I assume Hillebrand gets 3B and JJ Hardy gets SS.

Brewers need Pitching and for Overbay you could have gotten some help. But Shea Hillenbrand, come on...

Well, atleast they have 3B covered, word around Milwaukee is Hall will be traded and or used as a super sub. Hardy has the starting job at SS.

Milwaukee wants to start Hall at 3B - rumor has it that they'll flip Hillenbrand elsewhere. If not, Hall might be available - he'd be a real nice pickup.

He still needs a masher in the middle of that lineup.

JP is spending a ton, the result of this spending is very uncertain, and he just got a 3 year extension. Oh beautiful for spacious skies...

Bill Hall numbers:

.291/.342/.495 for an 837 OPS. 17 HR, 62 RBI, 39 2B, 6 3B, 18/24 SBs. 146 games and 501 ABs, so these numbers are based on about 85% of a complete season. About the only numbers I don't like are the 103/39 K/BB ratio. How's his defense? I seem to recall he has a strong arm....

I think a better concern would be:

Are the Brewers not real enough of a threat to the Cubs to prohibit us giving anything of value for a player that Milwaukee should consider one of their best tradable assets?

But they need pitching, and we're one of the few teams that has some extra to offer. Would Williams for Hall in a straight trade be fair for both teams?

Williams would make them better than Hall would make us. I'm a big Bill Hall fan, but I'd shy away from giving Milwaukee anyone useful.

he has a plus arm.

And that is about all, he will make the difficult play, but looks lost on routine plays. I have watched him in person ~50 times or so, he makes defense look hard.
