ESPN News is reporting.

Gammons said Clemens may look at the Rangers or he may decide to sign back with the Astros on May 1st. Retirement looking like most probable.

I wonder where this leaves the Astros now.

He wouldn't want to play his final season in the Windy City, would he?

Depending on what they decide to do in RF, there might be money to sign Clemens. I'd assume he would want no less than $15M.

It leaves the Astros with an extra 15 million to spend. I imagine they'll look for a bat and a second tier starter.

They do have the dough now to take on Abreu's contract.

But is Qualls and Backe enough to get it done?

And if they do get Abreu for Qualls and Backe, what does their rotation look like?

They'd probably try to sign one of the FA pitchers and then rely on some of the guys from their farm system.

If I'm Philly and the Astros wanted Abreu, I'd ask for Ensberg and Backe and try to make the Astros take back David Bell. I'd also try to get Patton of I could.

Has there ever been 2 300 game winners in the same rotation? Wow :D

1987 Indians had Steve Carlton and Phil Niekro for a while.

OT: I saw a 1987 Indians game at the tender age of seven and a half months.
