Wood, CPatt, Walker, Williams, Koronka, Welly?

Does packaging these guys in two trades bring us a SS or 2nd baseman and a power hitting RF?

Wood is likely not going anywhere with his NTC.

 

CPatt, Welly and a bucket of balls should land Milton Bradley for RF.

 

We have a good second baseman - Walker. No reason to trade him.

 

That leaves Williams and Koronka, who could probably not land anyone all that much better than Cedeno in a trade.

IMO if Burnett can get a 5/55 I can't see why a team wouldn't gamble on Wood, especially in a package.

I agree with ND, I really don't think Wood would accept a trade to too many places. Just my personnal opinion, I could be 100% wrong.

I agree but a GM/manager could talk to him and maybe convince him the advantages of playing in their city. I think Texas is one place he would accept a trade to.

Not only that, but with Baker and Rothchild saying that they can't count on Wood to be ready for the season opener nor for an entire season, why would any time give us value for that?

 

Personally, I think it's the spin job that the Cubs have been giving players they don't intend on re-signing, but are fan favorites. Bad mouth their ability well before struggling to find a replacement.

Yeah, I know money is a powerful thing and can change peoples minds very quickly, but for some reason I have a feeling Wood is just a gamer and he may want to give the Cubs and their fans another season. Again, I could be wrong and I could be putting too much trust into Wood, just my personnal opinion.
