It was very obvious that Cedeno would not start over Neifi. The most he could hope for was a platoon situation where he got "signficant time."

This just in "Florida knows more about the Cubs system than I do" - Jimmy

(a bit of an exageration, Jim was surprised how well they knew his system)

I hate to overanalyze a simple statement like this, but does anyone else interpret this to mean that perhaps Jim doesn't know other teams' systems as well as he should?

I heard the interview and the statement came in the context of evaluating Nolasco and Pinto, where the Cubs and Marlins had pretty much the same opinion/rating of the two. i think he was just trying to be complementary.

...haven't heard the interview, so the insight is appreciated. My concern seems to be groundless.

In a different interview on XM 175, he made some of the same points about the Marlins scouting. In that interview, it seemed to be more stating that the Marlins had done their homework in order to maximize the value of the firesale. Hendry was impressed that they rated many of the players in the Cubs system just as the Cubs had them rated.

Barring a trade where the Cubs fleece the Phillies for Abreu, I doubt that'll change.
