  1. well it seems to me we won't sign a great sp this year anyways. the only guy I would want more than Maddux would be Burnett and the Yankees are going to pay a ton for him. Burnett would be nice but there's no way he comes here, you are right, but when Maddux is going to cost you 9mill next year, I can tell you for certain we would be better off not having to pay for that.
  2. Ive been saying for Maddux to retire for some time, so it's not a kneejerk reaction his is a shell of his former self. Will he retire? Probably not but we can only hope that he does. And as far as having Rusch and Hill as other starters him retiring would only benefit us next year which hopefuly we will sign another SP if necessary which seems that it is.
  3. MAddux carved up HOlliday there right Brenly. He should keep it shut. Do us a favor Maddux and retire.
  4. Our deadly offense is off to a great start.
  5. Walker is hitting .322 with a .375 OBP in August, Perez is hitting .326 with a .383 OBP. Just throwing that out there. Oh, and Neifi's had 16 fewer ABs Neifi's hot streaks are so unreliable that I'm inclined not to rely on Neifi at all. No, I see that, I'm not defending Neifi especially - I go through that same stomach-plunge as everyone when he's at the plate, just throwing in a stat that could be used to defend him, or at least his selection of late. I'm not a Neifi appologist either, but he isn't nearly as bad as many people here make him out to be, especially since he has been in a Cubs uniform, which is all that should matter if you are sincerly a Cubs fan. Yeah right, so what you are saying is if we are true Cubs fans we can't criticize decisions the manager or organization makes? Please, that's ridiculous. That's not what I'm saying! People here continually ignore the positive things Neifi has brought to this team, they let their hate for him to get in the way. Could you ask for more from a back-up SS? I personally have no problem having Neifi on this team. You are right he is an excellent backup SS, yet thats what he should be a backup shortstop. We have the moron Dusty who likes to play his boys instead of regular starters. Walker or Hairston should be starting at 2B, not Neifi. Too many backups on this team have important roles which they should not have.

  7. Burnett is much better than Pavano and Wright. Even last year coming back from TJ surgery he was lights out down the stretch. Burnett is the real deal.
  8. It just criminal. Dusty talks about teaching on the job when talking about the kids but his so-called vets are the ones slipping and missing the cutoffs and playing baseball with the lack of fundamentals. He's gotta go.
  9. The first quote is pretty silly. Technically, Dusty may be not too far off about the 80% figure. If we count players under age 27 as youngsters, you get Prior, Zambrano, Williams, Wuertz, Ohman, Wellemyer, and Novoa. 58% of the pitching staff can probably be labeled as young. But extending that definition to the position players leaves you with only Matt Murton and Corey Patterson. That is 9 out of 25. Regardless, you get the sense that having young players on the roster is somehow beneath Dusty's dignity. After all, you don't see Tony LaRussa have to put up with that crap. The second quote is more infuriating than anything else. It's like there is a sword of Dusticles hanging over the head of any rookie that dares make a mistake. Quite a double standard, too. If it is a rookie making a mistake, it is because of a lack of coaching. If it is a veteran (you know, like your veteran SS failing to touch second base for a crucial out in the ninth inning of a game against a division rival), well them's the breaks. If Dusty had a low threshold for sloppy play, that would be one thing; but it is clear he has two sets of standards. Also there is the "The only thing about teaching at the big-league level is you can't teach them until they make a mistake," quote which displays a disturbing laissez-faire approach when it comes to developing younger players. I suspect that is probably one of the telling differences between an organization like the Braves and the Cubs. I suspect the Braves take a pro-active approach with their younger players, understanding fully that instruction doesn't end at the minor leagues. With the Cubs, well, you get the sense that they are waiting until somebody screws up. BAHAHAHA Dusty is such a moron.
  10. If we take Alou back what does that say about the competence about our GM? Then again Hendry didnt light the world on fire with his actions this off-season.
  11. I'm starting to get sick of this circus act.
  12. We really optioned Murton? That can't be serious. This organization is pathetic. What the heck good is Wellemeyer going to do for us? Man, I dislike Baker, and his sideshow project Hendry. It's obvious baker runs the show.
  13. I would liek to have Guardado but hes getting older and I wouldn't give up a good prospect for him. I would do it for a decent one though.
  14. Although Alou is old and injury prone this would be a good move for the Stros if he can stay healthy. Although has filthy numbers at Minute Maid.
  15. He's not treated as what he is. He isn't treated as a guy to fill in in emergency situations. Instead, he's the first [expletive] bat off the bench in crucial situations, not to mention spot starting EVERYWHERE. I also think that his double-play ratio leads the team. Not good.
  16. Burnitz is so bad right not that I would rather see Murton out there in RF instead.
  17. Nomar injured ahha. Yeha, we didnt see that one coming.
  18. IS anybody surprised that somebody missed a sign? I'm not.
