  1. Of course Dusty is going to say good things because he knows Cedeno is done for the year. That wasy people wont say hes too negative yet he still knows thathe doesnt have to use Cedeno as an option anymore. More of Macias and Neifi for all of us to drink a beer to.
  2. Mitre = another cubs prospect who is overrated.
  3. Mota has another year before free agency. Maybe they can take advantage of small market teams with arby eligible middle relievers. David Riske, come on down. I agree that is the way to go. BJ Ryan looks good but the Cubs recent track record with FA relievers (i.e.- Hawkins, Remlinger) makes me a little nervous about giving big bucks to another one. First off, I think that Dempster has done a wonderful job and would like to see him back here as closer. That said, Hendry dropped the ball on relief pitchers because he signs the setup men to top dollar instead of closers.
  4. Prior, Wood, Zambrano, and Maddux do not have 14 wins yet Rusch would have? I think not.
  5. To sum up what others have said...There were rumors back then that we were very interested in Castillo and I really do believe that we were trying to get him at the time. Castillo took a paycut and decided to stay with the Marlins.
  6. Would it be a problem to sign Nomar for SS, go with Perez at 2nd and hopefull hit him in the 8th hole? Maybe 7th on days Blanco gets the node? Thoughts? Yes, it would be a problem. With the payroll we have and with Walker, Hairston, and Cedeno here it would be foolish to allow Neifi to be a full time player.
  7. Neifi and Rusch were not the problems, but they werent the answers either. If they can find a better job elsewhere, more money for us to use and upgrade the team.
  8. Sorry, but when you start discounting OBP you are falling into hendry territory and you see how that has worked out for us last year. Clearly, one of our biggest problems has been OBP so to even discount that, or think it is not a big deal is ridiculous. Neifi has been ok for us. If Nomar did not get hurt Neifi wouldnt be an issue here, but because Nomar did get hurt we had to rely a lot on Neifi. The problem mostly lies with Baker who was benching a good young promising player in Cedeno who was tearing and IMO desereved to come up to the majors and play. Neifi should have never been in the #2 hole to begin with but I dont blame Neifi for this, I blame Baker. We dont NEED Neifi here next year so if he thinks he can find a job as a starter, well good luck and we wont miss ya.
  9. On the bright side at least we have a legit closer.
  10. We really do have a lot of worthless players on the roster.
  11. No, but he did swing at the ball that hit the plate.
  12. Because the veterans have excellent fundamentals.
  13. It's criminal that Hill hasn't seen action yet this month. I think its criminal that Dusty Baker is still the manager of this team. The fact is it is pathetic not starting the kids who also happen to be playing better baseball than the pathetic vets we have on this team.
  14. SO, why is Patterson leading off anyways?
  15. He sure as heck doesnt dominate anymore. Wow, after 2003 Wood and Prior are jello.
  16. The cubs are pathetic. Good thing Neifi was in the #2 hole.
  17. I know Nomar is an injury risk and that is a huge concern but damn, he is just tearing it up right now.
  18. I have to agree with you. There is a point where you stop talking about potential and start talking about BUST. In my eyes we are at that point. Not only has Corey been worthless to us this year he has also been a hindrance.
  19. I'm all for what you said but I would still leave Wood in the rotation and remove Jerome Williams untiol an injury happens(which is likely with the Cubs) or wait till the next season and put him back in the rotation after Maddux is gone.
  20. So far the only thing that Hendry has paid market value for among free agents has been for setup man and obviously that hasnt worked out so great. It will be a very interesting offseason.
  21. Chicago sports are cursed. EDIT: Actually, the more I think about it Chicago as a whole does not exactly have the best owners and management running the teams.
