Then turned around and gave near 7 million in combined contracts to Neifi and Rusch. Is Furcal overpaid yes. But he could have overpaid for Furcal and locked up the leadoff position for a few years, and kept 2 good arms. Instead he took the money he saved on Furcal and flushed it down the toilet. Now it appears they are going try to re-sign Pierre who will command a contract near that of Furcal plus they will need to spend money on another starter for the rotation. If they still had Nolasco he could have filled this roll at a bargain price. Hendry only thinks 1 move at a time. He would lose to a 2nd grader in a game of chess. We now also have to deal with Izturis' contract as well.

Beltran is a difference maker, instead we ended up with Burnitz. Hendry and his lack of foresight.

I have to agree with you, there is no way we make the playoffs next year. There's not enough resources available to us to do it and our GM is terrible.

He is. Someone was up in the pen (Papelbon?), but they sat down. Canzler at third, Clevenger at first...DJ Lewis up with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th. But Hollywood grounds out, 5-4. After 6, Boise leads it 4-0. Are you watching the game or hearing it on radio? If you are watching it how has Pawelek looked? -

Agreed. And I have no idea who could replace him. But I hear Dusty Baker may be desperate for a job this winter. Hey! Jim Hendry used to manage at the college level! I think we just killed two birds with one stone! That would be a Cubslike move. Team can't hit, lets switch Sarge and Gene's positions to make it look like things are changing! I still can't believe that.

I mean really, this guy has been so bad. How can MacPhail look at the fans with a straight face and let this man be the GM next year? Time to eat the money and get somebody new in here. He's a terrible GM.

That's what a 95mil payroll does to you when you have Hendry and Baker running the show..last place. Marlins are close to making the playoffs with their 17mil payroll, go figure. You seriously have to try to be this bad.

Who knows what would have happened if Hill didn't figure it out. I think he could have been a goner? Having Baker as manager is a scary thing.

way to root for your team... Actually, as of right now rooting against the Cubs is a good thing. I for one would love to have a 1st overall pick instead of a 6th overall pick. That being said, rooting for them right now will not get you into the playoffs. So here's to the Cubs losing every game this season.

I say NO to Zito because he will command too much money and IMO not worth it for a 3.5era pitcher. I would love to have Schmidt but only for a 2 year deal which is unlikely. I would like to see Lilly to be honest. Z, Hill, Lilly, Guzman, Prior/Mateo/Marmol/Marshall Yeah, it's not the best rotation but it might work out.
