  1. Even if you attribute last night to Schmidt being "on" there is no way around the fact that we've now had like 4-5 complete games pitched against us...several of them being shutouts...and most all of them having the opposing pitcher throw less than 110 pitches. I agree that looking at those stats, and nothing else, you basically can tell what the problem is with this team.
  2. Dude, Neifi saved us. He has to play. I don't care if Mabry can't hit his weight. He should be playing first and Walker should be playing second. I'm tired of watching Hairston miss signs and Neifi miss pitches every day. Almost as tired as I am of seeing Pierre ground out to second. BTW...don't we just have to lead the league in groundballs to 2nd by now...it can't be close....where can one find that stat?
  3. Is there anyone good projected for next year's draft?
  4. Ummm...So if you're going to bring someone up to provide a spark, shouldn't you actually play that someone...or is Theriot just a "riot" in the clubhouse and thats where he's gonna make his contribution?
  5. Correct, although it bears pointing out that Clemens robbed Randy Johnson of a Cy Young in 2004 when RJ had Randy beat in every category except wins. No question RJ deserved that one...but I was attempting to point out the annoyingness of STL fans...not the faults of MLB award voting. :D
  6. What happened to Ronny? We're not going to lose the tilda to injuries now, are we? #-o Yes...please do tell...I went to bed after the cubs gave up two in the first knowing it was over last night...surely we didn't lose our 2nd best hitter on the team did we?
  7. lol? Zambrano "failed to step up as a leader" because he didn't win games? Tough to win when your offense, as you stated about 47 times, doesn't score. Funny...seems that Z's only start since we REALLY went into a funk, he threw 7 shutout innings. Seems to me he stepped up when we needed him most, but unfortunately, we got shut out and lost in extra innings. Can't blame him for that. No...St. Louis fans would say he didnt' pitch "well enough to win"...these "best fans in baseball" are also ones who profess how important the "win" is as a stat in evaluating a pitcher and lauded the talents of Matt Morris when he won 18 games, despite a 5.something ERA. but it wasn't as important of a stat last season when they were campaigning Carp for Cy Young Actually...yeah it was. Wins was about the only thing he beat Clemens on last year. Clemens got robbed out of that Cy Young because his team didn't score any runs...dude had a 1.8 something ERA simply amazing. First guy with a SUb 2 era to NOT win the Cy Young in something like 20 years.

  9. lol? Seemed like there were a lot of mistakes there...Aramis "wasn't ready" to take over the run-producing role? No, he was in a slump, and he was before Lee got hurt. Zambrano "failed to step up as a leader" because he didn't win games? Tough to win when your offense, as you stated about 47 times, doesn't score. Some of it is spot on, but some of it just seemed like anti-Cubs rhetoric. Its pathetic down here...despite being swept by Houston and Cincy and losing 5 of 8 overall, St. louis seems to keep its self happy with constant Cub bashing.
  10. Yea Kerry Wood would "accidently" zing one 98 MPH right at his forehead on May 17th. I didn't say it would go smoothly...just that it would shake things up. :D
  11. How bout Stoney as manager. that would shake things up a bit.
  12. We should see if he'd be willing to come to Chicago and pitch batting practice...I'd even be willing to give him a 25 man roster spot if it was Bynum that got let go....at least Fassero would contribute in some way.
  13. I'm thinking if we don't score more than 4 runs in any of our next 5 games Clines gets demoted and Sarge brought back up as Hitting Coach...that worked so well last time.
  14. Yeah...cause he's going to get more $$ from somewhere else at his current production level.
  15. We're 1-9 in our last 10....at somepoint he's got to start feeling it. I'm guessing if we're not better than 3-7 or better (how pathetic is that) in the next 10 that we could be looking at a new manager.
  16. It is quite thoughtful of them to get behind 2-0 early. I can now get to bed at a decent time knowing I won't miss anything. Night guys.
  17. I'd trade damn near any combination of 5 players not named Murton, Cedeno, Ramirez, Lee, Barrett, Prior, Wood, Zambrano or Marshall. ANY combination. I'm pretty sure I'd throw Marshall into a deal for a stud like Cabrera. Marshall's value is at its absolute peak right now. Coming into the spring he wasn't even considered for a rotation spot. He's enjoying some not so expected success. He's shown enough this season that I wouldn't consider him in some of the deals I would have this past offseason. But you shouldn't let 2 months completely change your view of a player. If Marshall is the hangup in a Cabrera deal, and some of the other pitchers are coming around by then, I'd most likely include him. I'd agree with that...he'd be one I'd rather not let go...but if that's what it took...I'd probably do it...I'd say the same thing about Wood and Barrett...but the Marlins aren't going to want any of those guys because they make $$. Basically, I was trying to get accross the point that there is almost nothing I wouldn't give for a young guy like Cabrerra....and then I'd sign him to a 5-6 year deal at about 13-15 and forget about Left Field for a while.
  18. I'd trade damn near any combination of 5 players not named Murton, Cedeno, Ramirez, Lee, Barrett, Prior, Wood, Zambrano or Marshall. ANY combination.
  19. Guzman. Yes. Pie, only if Miggy Cabrerra (or someone similar is in the deal) or if we sign a centerfielder to a long term deal.
  20. Shhh...we don't need to start that discussion again. I was just looking at their offense...I'm not that worried about our pitching...we we could score 4 runs on a regular basis i think we'd win a few games.
  21. I just looked to see if there was anyone worth poaching off their roster to fill the hole...Grudz and Reggie Sanders are easily the best players on that team and they are not good.
  22. Ok...its been approx. 3 weeks since DLee went down...my phone isn't ringing off the hook to indicate we've got offense. What are the odds Hendry makes any move at all to fill this hole? The real falacy in any argument agains it is the thought that we only need this help for 6 more weeks...anyone how has seen this team hit (or not hit) recently knows that DLee isn't the only thing we need back. Mr. Hendry, please get us some offense....The Mets just lost their #5 starter, surely you can find something that works with them....
  23. Pain...Nice name...its sort of like watching the Cubs right now....but I love that movie. to paraphrase for these Cubs..."Offense...you keep saying that word, but I do not think it means what you think it means"
