  1. I still say Eminem.
  2. Maybe Jones will be the CF next year when they trade for Cabrera or Abreu and let Pierre walk.
  3. only after Wood, Prior and Miller come back. Maddux might wear down midway through the season. If it gets us a decent RF for the future then I am all for it. I am not convinced this is the year anyway. There will be a surplus of pitching. A rotation of Zambrano, Prior, Marshall, Guzman, Miller/Hill for next year with a decent offense is the net benefit. I like Maddux and hope he ends up as a coach/manager in the Cubs system after his playing days are over. Alex Gonzalez broke his wrist in 2004 and he was out 2 1/2 months and he came back his normal self so Lee probably can do the same. He should still have value at the deadline and teams in the hunt will be more willing to trade if they need pitching.
  4. Do the Cubs need another second baseman?
  5. I gave up when it was still 3-0 in the 8th and headed home from work, heard on the radio that it was still 3-0 when I got to the grocery store. I get home and find out that they scored 6 in the 8th and won. Anyone have that inning on video?
  6. The front office seems to like hits more than walks. Probably because a hit is more entertaining than a walk. They are all about putting fans in the seats.
  7. With the offes as it is, Barrett might need to catch every game until Lee comes back. Putting him at 1B once a week is an idea to consider. The idea was brought up when Ramirez got hurt in past years to put Barrett at 3B.
  8. I think Neifi can be an emergency catcher.
  9. I have the stadium give away pack of baseball cards from 1984 from game 4 of the sweep of the Mets.
  10. I broke my wrist 3 years ago. Mine was a colles fracture (distal radius). The distal means that the break is near the end of the bone. The radius was broken just below the wrist. The radius has a weak spot near the wrist where the bone is less dense. Mine was severe enough that you could see a deformity in my wrist. The doctor had to jerk and pull until my bones were lined up. Being in a cast for 6 weeks will cause the muscles to atrophy in his arm. He'll probably get a new cast that doesn't go past the elbow in 3 weeks. Plus since he's right handed he wont be able to sign autographs. Good thing he signed the contract before breaking his arm. It takes some time to get the strength back in his arm after they take the cast off. The severity of the brake doesn't really matter, it still needs 6 weeks to heal in a cast. The ligaments could also be damaged.
  11. Dusty will give Neifi a start against the lefty. I'll probably be Walker at 1B, Neifi at 2B and Hairston in RF.
  12. They probably just want to have another doctor look at the xrays before they say it's not broken that is typical with Xrays. A few years ago, I broke my wrist and went to the emergency room and then a month later got a bill from another doctor who looked at the Xrays. My wrist was obviously broken you could tell that without an Xray.
  13. Should have signed Furcal, at least then he wouldn't have run into Lee.
  14. They probably took lee out as a precautionary measure. They probably took an xray. I didn't see the play and I am waiting to see it on sportscenter.
  15. Heh count was 3-1. he grounded out on next pitch Ramirwz took 3rd
  16. after last nights game it's 3.03 #1 in ML
  17. 3.11 #1 in NL
  18. There are 3 new threads , 2 in baseball discussions and 1 in social, wishing Bruce Miles a Happy Birthday
  19. The Cubs should have picked up Alou's option...hindsight
  20. Aramis Ramirez, Kenny Lofton and cash for Bobby Hill, Jose Hernandez, and Matt Bruback (minors).
  21. so is the game over? Gameday says it's top of the ninth. Aramis with the Ofer in his return. He's off to a bad start but hopefully warmer weather will help him, I also read that Juan Pierre likes it warm too.
  22. if Cedeno keeps hitting he's got a shot at the GG.
  23. He did get that Silver Slugger award.
  24. Jason Isringhausen's ERA went from zero to 18.00 for my fantasy team on that one swing. I still won last week but need a new RP.
