  1. How many times have Cub pitchers given up 4 or more home runs? CUBS are 1-9 when they allow 4 or more home runs. Go CUBS !! Thanks Fred.

  3. Now that Murton has finally broken the seal, I am predicting Murton will go on a little homer burst -- providing that Dusty plays him.
  4. Brandon Webb: 2.74 Glendon Rusch: 3.07 That's Brandon Webb's ERA compared to Glendon Rusch's HRA (home run average). Don't fret Jabba, a couple of homerless appearances and you might just catch Brandon Webb yet.
  5. Eh, David Bell will be more than a capable replacement at third base next year. Plus, I hear he hustles.
  6. And the thing is, he really is proud himself. You can hear it in his voice. It's like, in his mind, he's gone out and acquired a 26 year old version of Alex Rodriguez.
  7. Jim Hendry said he couldn't understand why the Cubs weren't winning earlier in the year. God help us all.
  8. It's disgusting to listen to, Hendry is on with Pat and Ron right now. Says it's a "great day for everyone."
  9. What an idiot. Hendry gets played and is completely oblivious to it. So what does the infield for next year look like? 1B) Derrek Lee 2B) Cesar Izturis or Ronny Cedeno SS) Cesar Izturis or Ronny Cedeno 3B) David Bell (acquired as a free agent after Aramis opts out) MI) Neifi Perez The rest of the teams in the NL Central must be quaking in their boots.
  10. The Dodgers getting Julio Lugo on top of everything is the coup de grâce. If I were Hendry, I'd be embarrassed to show my face in public.
  11. I can't wait to hear Hendry's justification of this trade on WGN radio tonight. I can hear it now: "he runs well, he can catch the ball, he doesn't strike out, our scouts said this, our scouts said that, yada, yada, yada." Congrats Jimbo, you've outdone yourself.
  12. Trader Dave Littlefield has been a busy beaver today I see.
  13. Put me, too, on the list of people who thinks this is a decent pick-up (Neifi ramifications aside). I am pleasantly surprised that they didn't settle for a toolsy Bynum type player or a AA reliever with mediocore peripheals.
  14. Hendry needs to go. Before I jump on the pile, who is this Ceda kid? Apparently he throws 95 MPH. http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=228&p=2&c=544318 (3rd to last paragraph)
  15. Oliver Perez has been brutal the last two years. Since he seems incapable of throwing strikes, he'd be a perfect fit on the Cub pitching staff.
  16. I was wading through the comments on ChicagoSports.com where between trade proposals of Prior, Pie and Walker for Cesar Izturis and suggestions that the Cubs send 5 minor leaguers for Alfonso Soriano, I came across this... The Cubs need to rid themselves of dead-weight...like Todd Walker, who only seems to hit weak ground balls to kill rallies. Submitted by: Cal City Steve 11:04 AM CDT, Jul 31, 2006 So it is true. Dusty does read and post on the internet.
  17. Yeah, Pete Rose running over Ray Fosse this wasn't. Props to Damian Miller though, that was a hell of a play on his part.
  18. i remember that too. for the saints I think. dante stallworth? It was James Thrash, and to make it worse, he tried to play if off as a "Rookie Hazing". Unless James Thrash was involved in an incident I am unaware of, I believe the player in question was Albert Connell (who played with James Thrash while with the Redskins). Worse yet, he had just signed a big contract (5 years / 14 mil) with the Saints when he was caught stealing money from Deuce McCallister. He was soon released (thus forgoing 12 million dollars of his 14 million dollar contract) and his NFL career was effectively over -- this from a guy who, not 2 years earlier, had caught 62 passes for over a 1000 yards and 7 TDs and had showy yards per catch totals. Here's an article with more detail: http://espn.go.com/nfl/s/2003/0609/1565233.html Last I heard, he washed out of the Canadian Football League.
  19. This would be a lot funnier if Dempster was using a firehose.
  20. I'm calling it: if Aramis departs, Hendry will go out and sign David Bell in the off-season. :(
