  1. I wanted Alou brought back after the '04 season, unlike most people. But instead, we got a crappy Hollandsworth/Dubois "platoon" to complement Jeromy Burnitz.
  2. How has Roast not posted in this thread yet?
  3. I'm just glad big Al is helping out my fantasy team with all those homeruns and rbi's! Keep it up Big Al! My fantasy team needs you! If only he could pitch, because my fantasy team needs pitchers! Haha.
  4. Prediction: Cubs lose 8-1. Hill goes 5 innings, giving up 6 ER on 9 hits. Cruz pitches 7 strong innings. Aramis continues to suck. Pierre gets a couple hits. You heard it here first.
  5. There are plenty of reasons to like Albert. Him praising an Astros pitcher is hardly one of them.
  6. It's not a bad idea at all. Too bad it'll never happen.
  7. I thought the same thing at first, but I think it is just his normal face.
  8. I'd much rather have Mabry at 1st and Walker at 2nd tonight. Why? Neifi has had a lot of success against this guy in his career. Jon showed the numbers that lefties have had against Batista. hopefully Neifi does better than what I'm thinking he'll do tonight. So you're looking at overall numbers rather than specifically looking at Neifi's numbers? Okay.
  9. I'd much rather have Mabry at 1st and Walker at 2nd tonight. Why? Neifi has had a lot of success against this guy in his career.
  10. Neifi should be starting tonight. Nice lineup, considering the limitations.
  11. Regardless of how much money a player is making, it's the manager's job to put guys in a position to succeed (sound Dusty-like?). I don't care if Jones is making 5 million or 500 million this year, he sucks against lefties and the size of his contract shouldn't dictate when he plays. Hendry isn't at fault for Dusty being oblivious to Jacque's suckiness against the lefties.
  12. Supposedly this will finish the stadium off and give them 100% capacity. Will it just be the left field area or are there other areas for which more seats will be sold?
  13. Haha, that's hilarious. I especially love the way he ended the interview.
  14. Wow, Greg's next win will tie him with Nolan Ryan on the all time list. That is pure straight impressive!
  15. Geez, 8-0 to the Pirates? I'm not as upset about the shutout as I am about giving up 8 freakin runs to the Pirates.
  16. Back to back presentations at 12:30 and 2:00 + the Cubs game being on WGN = me pissed off. Go Cubs!
  17. he used to be. he's not anymore -- he's had a significant drop in power since he left atlanta. Not really. In two years in Atlanta, he hit 25 then 39 HR's. His first two years in New York, he hit 36 then 34 HR's. total bases from 2003-2005: 2003: 348 2004: 306 2005: 299 don't get me wrong, i'd love to have him, but he's getting pretty old, and his left arm is about to fall off. Well, you said he had a significant drop in power... which he clearly didn't. That's the only thing I took issue with. I don't deny that he is not as good as he once was. He's still real good though.
  18. he used to be. he's not anymore -- he's had a significant drop in power since he left atlanta. Not really. In two years in Atlanta, he hit 25 then 39 HR's. His first two years in New York, he hit 36 then 34 HR's.
  19. I don't remember that happening too often.
  20. I'd make that trade in a second. I like Kerry a lot, but I'm beyond the point of having faith in him. Sheffield is one of the best hitters in the game. If Hendry can trade an oft injured starting pitcher for a player of Sheffield's caliber, he should jump all over it.
  21. I was a big Chip fan. He was a lot more passionate about the Cubs (or at least he pretended like it) than Len is so far. I like Len too, but Chip was fun to listen to.
  22. Too bad that Marshall didn't get the W, but the most important thing is that the Cubs won! What an incredibly awesome performance by Sean Marshall though. Wow! By the way, thanks to everyone who was providing the play by play. It was much appreciated.
  23. Mr. Clutch, hell. He is probably the best hitter on the team. And that is even when Lee comes back. I personally wouldn't go that far. But he's good and will likely continue to improve.
