  1. I didn't see it, but apparently Anderson went to town on him, and he fought back in true Tavarez style. You mean he karate kicked him? that was chan ho. Tavarez is more of a tickler I thought Tavarez karate kicked a guy who charged the mound on him back when he was playing for the Cubs. Am I thinking of someone else?

  3. I've been a big Michael Barrett fan since he first got here, and I'm an even bigger fan after what he did today. What's up with Mabry? I haven't heard anything about his situation. Did he just randomly start puching people, or what?
  4. Screw you Dusty. Try sticking up for your players, you ass. From the Yahoo game recap.
  5. I don't think anything will change. I don't either, not as long as these clowns have the injury excuse to use.
  6. This is pathetic. Heads need to start rolling.
  7. *sigh* I just looked at the lineup. I knew Dusty would play Neifi today, even after his insanely stupid play to lose the game yesterday. I just KNEW it.
  8. You missed Maddux being old maddux and our offense returning to its usual self. Not much else. By old Maddux, do you mean the previous two years version of Maddux?
  9. Can someone give me a quick recap of what I've missed so far in today's game?
  10. That's assinine. We don't run the Cubs. But anyway, I can't speak for anyone other than myslef, but if Hendry were justified in calling a reporter on the carpet that would be one thing. But with the state of the currentl club, it is quite another. And I am in no way defending the hack Paul Sullivan. His sportswriting is just bad, but then again that is not what Hendry was complaining about. No, it's not "assinine" at all. If you or I see something from Sullivan that we don't like, no one is going to get all pissy because we comment on it. Just because Hendry has the ability to go straight to Sullivan rather than whining about it on a message board doesn't make it any different. He saw something that he didn't like and he let it be known. Not a big deal. No, it's asinine. Alou and Mercker were whiny little babies for complaining about the announcers. That's not the same as fans complaining about the announcers. Their job is to play the game. Our job is to watch, listen to or read about the game. No, it's not asinine. It's incredibly popular on this board to bash Sullivan and his articles (not that there's anything wrong with that), but the second that Hendry finally has had enough of Sullivan and lets him know about it, everyone suddenly think that it's unacceptable. Fans can slam a writer but a general manager can't?
  11. Sure, if there is not much analysis behind the reporting, or if the reporters opinion is not backed up by any kind of facts. The problem with this is, Sullivan was dead on with his criticism of Jacque Jones. I know that sometimes the truth hurts but that doesn't give Hendry and MacPhail the right to act like a couple of 3 year olds and throw a tantrum. They got rid of Mercker because of his problem with Chip and Steve and now they turn around and do the same thing is utterly hypocritical Is that what the whole thing was about? Jones? Because the article linked in the first post doesn't specify what they were upset about.
  12. Yes, that's exactly what we're doing. We aren't Jim Hendry. We aren't running this team. We aren't supposed to ignore all the peripheral BS and just do our job, which is putting the team together. So he's not supposed to respond to anything? All he's supposed to do is put the team together? Name me a GM that does that.

  14. That's great, but Corey repeatedly sucked badly here. How much more time were you willing to give him? I'm glad he's doing well, but I was also more glad to see him finally shipped out of Chicago.
  15. Personally, I'd never do it just because the seller can sell however many copies of the tickets as he or she wants to. If I ever did buy them though, I'd make sure that I got to the ballpark very early. You're not going to find a pro Cubs bar there. I always go to Paddio's though for my pre and sometimes post game drinking. In my experiences, the Cubs fans usually all get together in the lower level of the bar.
  16. Hmm, seems like us NSBB'ers are quick to slam a column whenever we don't like it. Now we're slamming Hendry for... doing the exact same thing?
  17. Haven't heard much about him since he was sent down. How has he been pitching?
  18. I took that as him saying that we can't win without Wood, Prior, Lee, etc.
  19. Greg Maddux will finally get to find out exactly who Mark Buehrle is on Friday. http://deportes.eluniversal.com/2005/10/09/09301a1%20copia.jpgBuehrle (facing the camera in the picture) has been decent this year, putting up a 4-2 record with a 3.42 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. In five career starts against the Cubs, he's basically been Glendon-like (5.29 ERA and a .309 BAA). http://u.univision.com/contentroot/uol/art/images/deportes/bball/2004/08/070804ap_greg_maddux3.jpgGregory is 5-2 on the year with a 3.10 ERA along with a 1.11 WHIP. He hasn't given up more than one run in any of his previous four starts. Maddux will be going for career win number 324, which would tie him for 13th all time with Nolan Ryan and Don Sutton. Go Cubs!!!
  20. So I guess I'm up in the game thread starter rotation??
  21. What do you suggest for Tim to do about it?
  22. Oh that's right... today was the NSBB day, wasn't it?
  23. We'll have the DH... you know Dusty will find a way to get Neifi into the lineup.
  24. Neifi, you're not fast you freaking POS! Geez, what a ridiculous play.
