  1. Admittedly, my eyes looked like this:  when I first saw that Jacque was hitting cleanup. But after thinking about it, with the way he's been hitting lately (especially against righties) and with Aramis playing like crap, I think it's a good move. Besides, our offense has flat out sucked recently. You can't blame Dusty for switching the order up a bit.
  2. What was the atmosphere like in the Cubs bullpen during games? Were Dempster and Eyre clowning around a lot? Best wishes!
  3. Yes, and this is why I thought that it was absurd at the time.
  4. I think it's pretty ridiculous that people have a problem with this thread. No one is starting threads everyday documenting when Corey struggles. But this is simply an incredibly stupid play by Corey Patterson and it's worth mentioning. What's more ridiculous? Corey making a baserunning blunder or a whole team scoring 4 runs since last Saturday without any days off? And in that span, how many pitchers have or had ERA's over 5.00 entering those games? Um, obviously the latter. What does that have to do with anything though? It's a baseball message board... I thought baseball discussions were encouraged. Look, I'm assuming that you're a big Corey fan. And that's fine. I'm not a Corey hater by any means, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to laugh when he does something stupid like he did in the play that we're talking about. I used to get all defensive and whatnot when people would slam Sammy, because I am and was a big Sammy fan. So I think I know why you're against this thread. The play (again, I'm not sure if you saw it) was beyond ridiculous. I'm sure fans of every team were talking about it the next morning.
  5. Hmm, watch an incompetent Cubs offense be embarrassed by Jake Peavy or celebrate Seis de Mayo? Tough call.
  6. 2 hits in 9 innings against Chan Ho freakin Park? Are you kidding me? And did Dusty Baker seriously start Freddy bleeping Bynum in left field over Matt Murton? Are the Cubs TRYING to make me not want to watch? If so they're doing a good job.
  7. He's hitting just .202 with a .299 OBP. He also has a team high 24 strikeouts in 84 at bats. I don't remember him being a slow starter. In fact, now that I think about it hasn't he always been a great hitter early in the season? What's wrong with him?

  9. There were players available in trade and via free agency that would have made the team better. If the Cubs wouldn't have blown the Sosa scandal into a full blown media circus, they could have improved the team. Floyd, JD Drew, Ordonez, Beltran, the list goes on and on of players that were available after the Cubs dumped Moises. That they chose to go with Hollandsworth and later Dubois isn't the fault of the fans who are glad Moises is gone. Neither of those two were OUR choices as Moises replacement. I could've worded that better, but what I meant was looking back on last year's left field combination, Moises would've by far been a better option. And Tim, didn't Moises say he would've taken a one year deal to stay here? I specifically remember him saying he would've taken less money than the 2005 option that the Cubs declined, but I don't know if he ever said how long of a deal he was willing to take.
  10. Barry Zito???????!!!!! Zito throws a 4 seamer, a 2 seamer, a changeup, and of course a curveball. He has four pitches, not two.
  11. Corey didn't get picked off. He had absolutely no clue what was going on and 19 seconds after the ball was caught in the outfield, he was tagged while standing two feet from second base. Did you see the play? It was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
  12. It doesn't, but it's appropriate considering that the option for 2005 was either Moises or the crappy in-house platoon. Goony, good memory on Alou's distractions and all that. I had forgot about his love of arguing with umpires. Arguing with umps, pissing on himself, and check swing grounders to third... I'd still take that with the production he provides rather than either of our corner OF's last year, and rather than Jacque Jones.
  13. That was hilarious and embarrassing at the same time. Corey would take two steps towards first base, then two towards second, then two back towards first. For a total of 19 seconds, he just basically hung out in between first and second. What a stupid play.
  14. Prediction: Cubs lose 7-3. We're facing a starter with an ERA over 5, so of course we'll have trouble with him. Pierre has another solid game, Jones drives in a couple, and Zambrano has yet another crappy outting.
  15. I numbers your points to make it easier to respond to. 1. You mean like so many other players do? Plus he wasn't exactly 100% healthy the first two years. I specifically remember him saying that 2004 was the best he had felt in a long time - and the numbers that year backed that up, as have the numbers in 05 and so far this year. 2. Fair enough, but was last year's LF any better? 3. I personally think that's selective memory. Sure he had bobbling problems here and there, but what outfielder doesn't? 4. Me too, but don't you think his OPS (the stat that everyone treats as the all encompassing one on here) made up for that? 5. Distractions?? Like what?
  16. Hill sucks. NO pitcher is going to be successful by throwing a fastball and a curveball. I don't care how good his AAA numbers are... he hasn't done anything at the ML level to show that he might be a good major league pitcher. I've never thought much of Hill.
  17. I wasn't that far off at all. Hill = AAA pitcher.
  18. TNT. Cool, thanks. Go Bulls!
  19. Is this game on TV?
  20. Huh? Are you saying that he's going to be sent down soon??
  21. Seriously? What the hell? What's the point in even having Hairston on the roster to begin with if he's not going to play. Bynum = the new Macias
  22. Moises is not a good person or a good player. He is a cancer in the clubhouse. And you know its funny, some of the people who "miss him" are the same ones who used to grumble about him grounding out to 3b every ab or all of the DPs he hit into or his terrible fielding. We dont need this kind of trouble again. I'd love to see you try and defend the bolded statement. With facts. And have you met him? That's pretty harsh calling him a bad person if you haven't even met the guy.
  23. What's with all the Moises hate?
  24. I know he never pitches right-handed (obviously), but isn't Billy Wagner ambidextrious?
