  1. It's a guy thing, you wouldn't understand. I just got home... how'd Gooz look today? I saw his line, but how was his stuff?
  2. Anyone know if any of the current Marlins have faced Gooz before?
  3. That's the coolest avatar I've ever seen.
  4. You're right. Pittsburgh could never afford Jacque's contract. It'd be more like Bynum, Pagan, and a mid level prospect for Bay and Wilson.
  5. I'm thinking more along the lines of short skirt and bikini top. But great idea!
  6. My God. Overreact much? Wade was probably just trying to be funny and add a little over the top optimism and he gets slammed for it by two people? Christ.
  7. My astronomy professor probably won't, being as she's Indian. But I'll skip class anyway. Yeah, my Chinese marketing professor will totally understand. I have no idea what you're talking about.
  8. I've heard of what happened before, but never actually read the play by play, so to speak, of it. I just finished the article on Cubs.com. Great stuff.
  9. Nice. Surely my marketing management professor will understand why I won't be in class tomorrow.
  10. Ballgame! Let's get the sweep tomorrow!
  11. Opponents are hitting .150 against Dempster this year. That is ridiculous!
  12. I thought we went over this 8 or so times in this thread... I was on my way home from campus during the previous several pages... I guess I missed something.
  13. It's nice to see the Cubs able to (likely) win a game when our 1-2 hitters fail to get on base the whole game.
  14. It's worth repeating............ What an incredible outing by Sean Marshall!
  15. Thanks for the score update, guys. I couldn't get GameDay to load. The way you were talking made me think they had tied it up or something! Inning over.
  16. Never thought of it before, but it is a really good comparison. Maybe that's why I like Murton so much.
  17. 6 innings, 2 hits, 6 K's WOW! What an outting from Marshall!
  18. Fast forward the same situation 5 innings. Why does one run later mean more than one run now? A run is a run; I'll take one in whatever inning I can get it in. Do you know that there's a better chance of a runner scoring from first with none out than it is for a runner to score from 2nd with 1 out? I didn't know that. Is that a proven fact? Yep. The Run Expectancy (Avg. number of runs scored in an inning from a given base-out state) is 0.953 with no outs and a runner on first and 0.725 with one out and a runner on second. Interesting stuff, I never knew that.
  19. Just gotta tip your hat to a great pitcher. Nah, i think they need to check the ball. Gamesmanship ya know. Nice. I hate the Cardinals with each passing year and each passing post by K-town. Indeed.

If you play for one run that is the best outcome you can expect. You should only play for one run if you know that is all you will need (i.e., late in a game) IMO, it wasn't horrible, merely bad. Barrett is one of the better hitters on the team Dontrell was having problem with control (as evidenced by the walk and then groving one to Murt). JJ was in the hole. But it's not as if they were playing for one run, and only one run. They were playing for the first run of the game - to take the lead. I'll stop talking about it now, as the game has moved on. But I still think it was a good call.
