  1. All I know is that Stefhon Hannah better be ready to play. If he doesn't have a solid game, we'll probably lose tonight.
  2. So you're sayin there's a chance! Thanks for the info!
  3. Someone help me out here... I'm a Rams fan who is holding out hope that there just might be a way for them to make the playoffs. Who should I root for Thursday night between the 6-8 Packers and the 6-8 Vikings? Or does it even matter? I'm thinking it doesn't matter who wins, but I'm not completely sure.
  4. Yes I did. I watched him play many times that year as I wanted to see if Illinois could go undefeated. He was the weak spot on that team. Before you jump all over me for that, I realize that saying Augustine was the weak spot on that team isn't really saying too much because of Head, Brown, and Williams. But he never did anything that stood out to me. He just always seemed to just be on the court while the three guys I mentioned before did most of the work. Now, I'll admit that I didn't see him much last year after Head and Williams left so he could have improved a bunch and could have been more of a focal point in their offense last year. But two years ago, he didn't really do anything that stood out to me and I wasn't very impressed with his play. Fair enough. Good response. no it isn't as I posted earlier the guy had a great year his junior year. There is more to basketball than just scoring. Anyone who has played the game at higher levels can understand Auggies value. What do you think about tomorrow night's Bragging Rights game?
  5. You totally contradict yourself. You say "no one said anything about not signing a player because he played for the Cards," yet a few sentences later say that "you add the fact that Marquis is a former Cardinal" making it worse. Which is it? What? That's not contradicting myself at all. We're talking about what number he will wear. It's bad enough to give Sammy's old number to another player period. The fact that the other player is a former member of our rivals is an even harder smack in the face. The first statement of mine that you have quoted is in regards to player acquisition, the second is in regards to something completely unrelated.
  6. Dawson didn't wear #19, Lilly isn't wearing #31, and McDonough doesn't handle signings or trades. Now, with that said... this isn't about not signing a player because he played for the Cards. Who said anything in this thread about signing Marquis? We're talking about what number he might wear. It's about having respect for a player who was the only reason to watch the Cubs for several years. And then you add the fact that Marquis is a former Cardinal, and that just makes it even worse.
  7. I said that he's a douchebag IF he decides to wear number 21, not that he is a douchebag right now. I hope he has enough respect to not wear it, but we'll see.
  8. I completely, completely disagree. Marquis had #21 in St. Louis, the number isn't retired, and Sosa hasn't been on the team for a few years. If Sosa had died or something, then yes, that's fine, but I think the Cubs would be douchebags if they made him change his number because it was worn by a player a few years ago Because it was worn by a player a few years ago? It was worn by arguably the greatest Cubs of all time. Marquis is a crap player, and shouldn't even think about wearing the same jersey number that Sammy Sosa wore. Yes, Sammy was awesome, but bridges were burned. If the number isn't retired, then someone else should be allowed to wear it. If you don't want a "crap player" to wear it, retire it, simple. Clearly the team doesn't hold Sosa in as high regard as some fans. It's important to this franchise that players embody what it is to "be a Cub", and Sosa just isn't that. He was a great player who put up eye-popping numbers, but he'll never be confused with Banks or Santo as far as championing the Cubs and comitting his post-baseball life to the team (another reason I think Santo's number was retired....he has dedicated so much of his time and energy to the Cubs in the last 30 years. I just don't see Sammy following suit). To Cubs fans like myself who were big Sammy fans, what the Cubs are doing is a big slap in the face. First they trash Sammy in the media because he left a game early that had the same significance as a spring training game. And now they sign some horrible pitcher who was one of the worst players in baseball last year, and they're fine with him wearing the same number that Sammy did? That's crap. Sammy put more fans in the seats than any of McDonough's marketing gimmicks ever have. Show a little respect and don't allow some random player (a former Cardinal, no less) to wear the same number that a baseball legend wore.
  10. Marquis is a huge douche bag if he chooses to wear number 21. The Cubs are douche bags for allowing Marquis the choice.
  11. Three or four wins? Yeah thats just not true. i just dont get it. if getting rid of worthless players doesnt really help then why bother? its like saying the game is 98% luck. You could get rid of Neifi Perez and replace him with Barry Bonds at the height of his roid-age and if he only played off the bench it wouldn't change THAT much. Yeah, that's not absurd or anything.
  12. I'm gonna be so pissed off if they give him #21.
  13. What are the chances of this deal being one gauranteed year with two option years? Probably slim to none, but it's just something that crossed my mind on the way home earlier.
  14. Hahaha, there are always like 6 or 7 posts in a row that basically say the exact same thing. Then there's mine that says the exact opposite.
  15. Yeah, the downtown sucks. That's why no one goes there. St. Louis has a lot of nice and fun areas though.
  16. Why are Bears fans making noise on third down? Nice job, D.
  17. They've done their job tonight, yeah. They've been pretty awful prior to tonight though. Of course, having Pace out certainly makes it tough to have a solid O-line.
  18. Damn it, catch the freaking ball. That's two drives in a row. Come on.
  19. Oh man, so close to catching that one.
  20. I think your use of "needs to be shot" is juvenile and should be pulled as a comment. Little wonder people look at messages boards as something populated by childish minds. sorry Rob, but you should find a different way to post your continual displeasure with the team. Maybe you should find a different team. The "needs to shot" comment is way over the edge. Agreed.
  21. Definitely. He didn't turn around.
