  1. But Pie would trump that, since it gives them a top prospect. They also shed a part of Milton's salary, which would be good for a team like the Reds. If we eat a lot of salary, they get Mitre. If we don't eat a lot of salary, we give them Nolasco. I think the Reds would be very happy with that haul for one mistake contract, and one guy who's gone after 2007. The Marlins would take Milton to replace Burnett, and Paterson to replace Pierre. They also get Walker and have to chance to move Castillo. But the Reds need pitching so why would they want Pie unless they are going to move him or Griffey for pitching?
  2. I agree and it smacks of Pie being a player in this deal. Maybe Cincinatti is the third team, and Pie (with Mitre) goes there in exchange for Dunn, Milton goes to Florida with us picking up salary, and Pierre comes here with Walker and Patterson going to Florida You just brought me down USS. As in, I just made you feel worse? I dunno, we give up Pie, Walker, Patterson and Mitre and cash and get Dunn and Pierre? Hmm...that does seem like a lot to give up, on second look. Maybe substitute cash with a low level prospect. I didn't see the Dunn part! Would you give up those 4 plus cash to get Dunn and Pierre? Would you also give Nolasco to the Reds? IMO the Reds are going to want 2 good pitching prospects like a Williams, Hill or Guzman.

  4. I agree and it smacks of Pie being a player in this deal. No it doesn't. I hope you're right dude. If Hendry goes to the Fish and says he has Furcal locked up then he has leverage but if he is desperate to land Pierre than IMO Pie may be the one that makes this deal.

  6. How does Kearns hit righties? If he does that really well I don't see that as being that bad. I want Dunn don't get me wrong but in a worst case scenerio if Kearns does hit righties it wouldn't be too bad. Now if he struggles with them....absolutely no way.

  8. I would like: Furcal SS Giles RF Lee 1B Dunn LF Ramirez 3B Wells CF Barrett C Perez 2B Neifi is going to start no matter what and I'd trade Cedeno to get any of the 2 OF's.
  9. we're in denial. It's what we Cub fans do best! To get quality you have to trade quality. Whoever gets Dunn is going to give up some serious talent to get him as Vance pointed out. Hopefully the Cubs have some the the players that the Reds would want to make them move Dunn to the Cubs.
  10. Man, this is so much more fun than talking about Burnitz or Sanders!!!
  11. I'm pretty sure he costs us a 2nd round pick. Because the Cubs finished in the bottom 15 right? So if the Cubs sign Giles or Burnett does that cost them a 3rd round pick or do the Padres/Fish get a supplimental pick in the 1st or 2nd round?
  12. There has to be something about Walker that really bugs Hendry/Baker. I just think there is something we don't know about and that is the reason why he is getting moved more than his abilities. I understand that the push for defense and speed is big with Hendry right now but something here just doesn't add up.
  13. Good point. I don't care how Hendry does it as long as the Cubs get an impact bat for the OF.
  14. If Hendry can hold Pie from the Fish I see no reason why he wouldn't move him for Dunn. I agree it's going to take at least Pie and Hill.
  15. And tonight on ESPN, Hendry and the Reds' GM play "Go Fish". With Steve Phillips as both teams GM!
  16. If we get Kearns that also means Murton is gone. I can't see Hendry going with Murton and Kearns as the starting corner OF's. I thought Kearns was a good defensive RF?
  17. I'm so sick of the safe bets. I want an impact bat like Dunn and no compromises.
  18. So package him and others to the Yanks for Sheffield?
  19. You're from the area....do you really think that's all it would take as long as the Cubs pick up all the cash?
  20. I would have liked to see this go to trial just to air some things out. You never know what else could be found out and with a rat like Raffy he may say anything to protect himself.
  21. I think you would have to include Pie and/or Murton and another pitching prospect.
  22. No, I completely agree with your assesment of Kearns. He's no guarantee to produce. Given how our window of opportunity is not as wide open as it was 2 years ago, I'd rather not take on a reclamation project. I'd rather have close to guaranteed production. As would I. How old is Kearns? He'll be 26 in May. Well....he had faith that Barrett would get better and he was about that age so if Hendry is willing to bet his job on a player like Kearns I suppose he may think he will break out too.
