  1. All reports now say he will be ready by spring training. I'd still do it and if LA wants to move Lowe even better.
  2. I'd go after Bradley especially if the cost is low. Now I do remember hearing that he was hurt and wouldn't be able to play for awhile so that shuld decrease the cost a lot IMO. While he is on the mend the Cubs can see if Murton is the real deal and if Murton is it wouldn't hurt to have 4 good OF's for once assuming that the Cubs get an impact bat for right. If Murton is struggling he can move to the 4th OF and Bradley can go to CF or LF depending on who the Cubs have for CF.
  3. If everyone is overpaying. Therefore no one is overpaying. Wow is this statement wrong. Overpaying is overpaying. I think we are seeing a new market plain and simple. Therefore it's not overpaying. If everyone were overpaying it may be but not all teams are overpaying as some may not get into the free agent market because of the high prices. If everyone is buying a Toyota Prius for 32K and the sticker price is 30K does that mean that everyone is overpaying or just the people that are buying the Prius?
  4. Todd Walker, CPatt, and Welly are worth about what TWalk is worth by himself. So an easier question to ask, is what could TWalk bring us? I truely think that some GM is in love with CPatt and will be after him. I still think he will be a 20/80/275 type CF.
  5. What type of player(s) could CPatt, Walker and Welly bring the Cubs in a trade? It seems that they will be traded so could they bring the Cubs something in quality that could help?
  6. My fear is that Pie may get thrown into the mix in 2006 and become another CPatt. If Hendry fails in getting somebody to play CF or leadoff I see Pie in the opening day lineup if he does well in Spring Training.
  7. Didn't Haggerty have nice mechanics and it was the slider that injuried him?
  8. 1. Pie +10 +10 2. Pawelek +10 +10 3. Hill +10 +7 4. Harvey +10 +5 5. Cedeno +10 +8 6. Marshall +10 +10 7. Cedeno +10 +5 8. Patterson +10 +7 9. Guzman +10 +4 10 Pinto 156
  9. My cyber money says the Jays are just starting to put together their 2006 team. Yes, they overspent but IMO I think they have another trade/signing in the works.
  10. I believe he took it pretty well actually. He really wanted to be in CF, because that's where he felt the most comfortable. But I believe he said he would have gladly played RF. Yep, here it is: Interesting, thanks Raw. Was Drew in CF when Bradley went balistic? I thought that was in 04, with Finley in CF. True, I mean when Kent and Bradley got into it?

  12. No way that's true USS....no way. Imagine how much Lee would want then?
  13. Let's say this is true. I think Texas is getting the best of this deal if the minor leaguers are Cedeno and 2 quality young pitchers.
  14. If I remember correctly wasn't Bradley a little upset about being moved to RF when Drew was signed? I'm not saying that being peeved for X amount of time is OK but I wonder if that had a negative effect on him.
  15. Nah...as long as Fredi Gonzalez is still out there, we're ok. I think Fredi should be in your sig Vance.
  16. wouldnt it be lofton/jhjr? greenburg isnt on the 40 man anymore. It's what I would rather have mg not what Hendry is going to do. I agree that Hairston/Lofton would probably be the direction they would go if Lofton were the guy the Cubs picked up and since for some reason Greenburg has been bounced of the 40 man it has no chance of actually happening.
  17. Penn State won the regular-season title in all of the major fall sports (football, men's soccer, women's soccer, field hockey and women's volleyball). Football is #3 in the BCS. Women's volleyball is ranked #2. Field hockey was ranked #6. Women's soccer spent much of the year at #1 and is now ranked #3. Men's soccer is #9. Pretty solid fall! I just noticed that Penn State played 7 out of 11 games at home this year, are they doing that next year too?
  18. I would rather have Lofton/Greenburg and trade the pitchers for an impact bat or sign Giles. Lofton/Greenburg Walker Lee Abreu/Giles/Manny Ramirez Murton Barrett Cedeno/Perez Hairston, Blanco, Stairs like hitter/fielder. Of course I'm leaving the pitching staff at 12 because IMO that's the direction the Cubs will go.
  19. Could the loss of Damon be a reason why Boston wouldn't give him up?
  20. Fixed it for you SSR. I think having Hill and the other young guys in the wings for the 7th spot should be sufficient unless they are all going in some trade(s).
  21. Wow, if Wood and his 12.5 is out for a good part of the season that is really going to hurt. I don't see how the Cubs can trade for Abreu without Philly tossing in some cash and the Cubs giving up a lot of prospects. Giles and Furcal put the Cubs with around 5 to 8 to spend and I'm sure Jones or Burnitz will fit that budget under the Hendry plan.
  22. Manny, Huff, Dunn, Kearns????? That one is for us to guess and Hendry to know. He has to be setting himself up for something because he paid a lot of cash for these guys and seems intent on trying to Dusty proof the pen with Vets. I'd like Abreu, Dunn, Giles or Manny. I consider Kearns and Huff as second tier OF's. I would also like one of those guys to be able to crush righties. Seems like Floyd's an ideal guy for the Cubs. He has a 1 year left on his contract @ $6.5 mil. He's a LH bat who can bat between Lee and ARam. His health is a concern, but that makes him perfect for this organization. Do you consider Floyd an impact guy like the 4 I mentioned? His injury and lack of defense kind of worry me. I think that Manny and Dunn supply enough offense to make up for their lack of skills in the field while Giles and Abreu can play decent defense. Do you think the Mets would want to move Floyd now that Cameron is gone? I agree that his bat would be nice in the Cub lineup.

  24. IMO Hendry is paying a lot for the pen in order to move a lot of young pitching in a trade(s). I'm hoping among hope that he gets 2 impact bats.
  25. Joe Pa and the AD for Syracuse got into a little thing let's say about forming an all sports Eastern league in the 70's. For some stupid reason it wasn't formed and the Big East as a basketball only conference was then formed. After the Big East was formed they would not let Penn State in and I'm not exactly sure the reason why. Penn State then wanted to schedule the eastern teams Syracuse, WV, and BC in 2 for 1's because of the loss of revenue...twice at Penn State and then once at the other school field for football and it was turned down by those schools. Penn State then was either asked or or was asked by the Big 10 to join and there they are. Miami wanted to improve it's basketball and joining the Big East was a no brainer for them. I believe around the same time Florida State joined the ACC. Is that why JoePa was so critical of Pitt when they joined the Big East. IIRC that is when he refused to play them anymore, but I could be wrong. Yeah the Pitt/Penn St was the last of the Eastern battles for Penn State. Pitt was invited into the BE from the Atlantic 10 and then WV a year or 2 later. I hate the fact that things got so bad between the Eastern schools because we could have had something really special. I'm not sure when the rivalry ended but it's really too bad it did. Penn State vs Michigan St just doesn't have the same ring to it as Pitt/Penn St. And yeah...Joe was not a happy camper.
