  1. I plan on putting in at least a dollar when it comes to this! I thought Syracuse should be a 6 seed but 5 is the highest I think they should have gotten and I can see why it's puzzling to people. I don't understand the 20 win M-M teams in either.
  2. I hear the point about Cincy, but could you really add a 9th Big East team? Basically they are out thanks to Syracuse running the table. What difference does it make what conference a team is from? Cincy is better than Air Force and IMO should have been in. You have to compare Cincy and Air Force not Cincy and Syracuse.
  3. Who did Missouri St. beat?
  4. Conference record is 12-4 RPI is a 38 No way could this team go 8-8 in the BE, ACC or Big Ten. I agree with Jay Bilas that the Committee has given teams mixed signals by putting teams that didn't play anyone in while others that did in thier conference don't get in.
  5. Apple. Air Force's best wins were Georgia Tech and another bottom Big Conference team. The committee just proved my point that I made earlier, MM's get credit for beating average or below average BCS conference teams while BCS teams don't get credit doing the same thing.
  6. If Villanova plays a team that has a very good 4 or 5 and decent guards they have a good chance to lose. UConn has problems staying focused and if a team can jump on them early I think they could get knocked out. Also, IMO the 16 seeds are the best I can remember.
  7. Does anyone know anything about Air Force and why they are in other than a nice 26-4 record?
  8. 96-97-98, I believe it was, for UK in the Final game, right? Or was 97 a FF loss to Zona? '97 was a loss to arizona in the championship game. don't forget our two elite eight appearances in the past five years either :P syracuse with a #5? i think that's a bit high. I thought we ought to get a 6 but I'm assuming their strength of schedule and RPI boosted them up there.
  9. So, then the SEC deserves just their auto bid, since they haven't made the Final Four since 2000. That's probably why they were on Jefferson Pilot. :D 2000 is still a lot better than 1979 and since 1979 how many SEC teams have won it all and been on the Final 4? Let me say that I have a lot of respect for the Bucknell's and Gonzaga's and they have wonderful basketball programs and have the capability to beat any team in the tournament but they can't win 4 in a row. 96' ring a bell? :) I'm defending your goofy conference and this is how you repay me?

  11. If Ohio State wins the tournament I don't see why they wouldn't get a #1 seed. I thought the Big 10 was "RPI" wise the best conference in college basketball?
  12. What BCS conference hasn't had a team in the final 4 since 2000? I'm not saying they shouldn't get the chance....what I'm saying is that these MM's do not prove it on the court. The computers and voters can say what they want but as I said earlier, do it on the court and prove you deserve to play there. What I'd like to know is why you think playing Creighton and Missouri State is like playing Illinois and Ohio State? The RPI top 50 considers those games in the same light and I think that is a joke. If you put Michigan, S Hall, Cinci, or Kentucky in a MM I'll bet you any amount of cyber money they would have had a heck of a lot better record than they did while playing in a major conference. My point was that Cinci has been to the final 4 and many of the top half teams in the major conferences have been there while the MM's altogether haven't been there since 1979. MM's are like a cute puppy, they are nice to look at and they can bite another dog once in a while and it'll be cute but when push comes to shove the Big Dogs just tear them apart over and over again.
  13. No need to worry about an invite cuse we are going by the automatic way!
  14. But they are going on probation. Does anyone know what the penalties are? Not really much. They have to take there '99 final four appearance banner down. Scholorship's are going to be reduced. I think that's it. That's not bad at all. I heard the players have to drive Chevy Blazers instead of Lincoln Navagators as one of the punishments too.

  16. And why is that? How many Mid-Major schools have even made it to the Final 4? You would think one would have gone that far sooner or later. Let's see...Marquette made it 3 years ago as a member of Conference USA. Maybe that doesn't count. Kent State made the Elite Eight in 2002. Gonzaga made it in 2000. Indiana State made the final game back in 1979, too, if the Elite Eight isn't far enough to be considered "far". Not letting teams get in unless they've "been there before" is quite the catch-22. I don't consider Conference USA as Mid-Major when it comes to basketball and I don't consider the Elite 8 the Final 4 as I stated. You are right about Indiana St and they had to go back to 79 which is 27 years ago. The top teams have been in and haven't gone far so why let the middle teams go to the 65? When was the last time the 7th and 8th place team in a power conference made the final 4? The idea that they haven't been very good in previous years, so they should be precluded this year is ridiculous. The difference is that the 7th or 8th place teams have proven they could go to the final 4 in other years while MM's have none of theirs go.

  18. That's unfair. No one's expecting Northern Iowa or Bradley to go to the final four, the same way no one's expecting Seton Hall or Cincinnati to go to the final four. I think any team that is asked to be an at-large team should be able to win it all. Also, you weighted the top of the conferences the same so what I'm saying is if the Missouri Valley is as strong as the BE or any other major conference then they should send one of their teams to the Final Four but history has shown they haven't since the 60's. Once they prove they can start to put teams in the final 4 then I'll respect them and say they are worthy of 4 or 5 teams. Let me add that almost every team in the Big East has been in the Final 4 since 1985. No one said the MVC was as strong as the Big East. Past success of the conference is next to irrelevant in deciding the field. Any team that's an at large could win it all, but no one's expecting most of them to advance very far. That goes for Northern Iowa, George Mason, Cincinnati, Indiana, whoever. The point is that these top teams in the MVC, CAA, etc. have as good or better tournament resumes than the middle of the pack power conference teams, and shouldn't be ignored because the only ESPN coverage they get is in Bracket Busters. I do not deny that they are good teams but they would be at best a Cincinnati or S Hall and the top of the major conferences are what makes it so tough for the Cinci or Halls to make it while the Mid-Major don't have to play the top teams like a Illinois, Ohio St, UConn, Duke and NC in their conference. I think the past has a lot to do with it. These teams (MM) have to prove they belong and winning and getting to the sweet 16 seems to be all they get to and they get a ton of credit for doing so. If they really want to be compared with the bigger name conferences they have to win and go to the elite 8 or final 4. They get a chance to prove they are as good unlike football where the good ole boys take charge.

  21. Not a bad day: snow + UCLA wins the Pac-10 tourney. :) Well it's sunny and over 60 here so maybe it's bizzaro day and we both win!
  22. Congrats Raisin! You guys won the Daily Double!
  23. his throws tail in to the runner, remember? He'd be great at kickball.
  24. Well let's see how the great Missouri Conference does in the NCAA's then. I think it's been awhile since one of them have won a NCAA Championship or been to the final 4. The good thing about this is that computers or voters don't play the games so let them prove it on the court.
