  1. I know a lot of us like to say "The Cubs should go after the big name Free Agents", but, are they worth the money invested? Vlad was. Tejada was, but many are just having average or below average seasons and huge contracts. Furcel was highly overpayed as was Beltran. Randy Johnson is. Thome was while he was overpayed in Philly and now he is starting to earn his cash in Chicago. Is it worth overpaying a former star to get average or below average production?
  2. BOWDEN. And add to that Bowden would be getting a Gold Glove winner! That has to mean a lot to a guy like Bowden.
  3. Playing for Baker is like going to a Club Med....only they should call it Cub Med. Everyone gets to play no matter how bad they are and if they can screw up as many times as they want.
  4. I disagree. Juan is now just about up to last years performance already numberwise. I think he will get back closer to the year he had in '04. The help we need is at 3b and 1b in that order. Prior says that he will be ready by Memorial Day, so one of our starters needs to be moved. We will have to clear at least 3 40 man spots off this month, so Jimbo better get moving. When I say there's time maybe I should have wrote that in a 10 days at the max instead. I think Pierre has trade value and could help get an impact bat. Perez could play CF and give Pierre's numbers. I wouldn't mind if Jones is moved there if the Cubs get an impact bat for 3rd and platoon Hairston in CF with Jones.
  5. It's May 5th and the Cubs are only 5 games back, there's time to make a deal and have it make a positive effect on this team. I still wish Hendry would include Pierre in a deal to somebody along with some top prospects for an impact bat.
  6. They are reporting that the offer is now 4 million a month which would add up to be 20 million. Wow.
  7. you're drunk, aren't you? Is he talking about injury time? As an aside, I wish they'd bring back the Golden Goal... Injury time...that's it! I don't understand that deal at all. They take the time where the game was not played during that 45 minute period due to injuries and substitutions and add it onto the end, making the half 45 minutes of actual playing time. I don't get why it's a mystery though. The announcers don't seem to know how much time is left in the match.....why the confusion?

  9. I thought the whole idea of getting Pierre was to not have to bunt when he's on base.
  10. Brady Quinn could've won three straight REAL titles IMHO. Are you really Mike Golic?
  11. I'm curious on how many NCAA QB's could have done just as well or better than Leinart did if they were at USC.
  12. When did Orel become a Joe Morgan clone in the announcing booth? :( And he wants to be a GM? Yikes.
  13. IMO you just try to keep as much information about an injury with the team as much as possible. But to settle the dispute, maybe Barrett and Baker should just play war the card game. Now that's a game that takes some serious strategy.
  14. Lefty reliever that had drug issues while playing.
  15. Keith wants Pierre out of the dugout....now.
  16. This is the second time he's complained after delivering a big home run, maybe the fans are doing something right after all. Jones is a 240 hitter with no patience or clue on what to do at the plate. I'm glad he is going to continue playing the game the way he knows how too. It got him 15M so I can see why he feels that way. I hope Hendry gets some kind of right handed batter to hit against lefties or it's going to be 0-3 galores.
  17. I hear he may be the next Lou Gehrig. So far he's doing a nice job at first but he stretches too early for the ball at times.
  18. I thought it should have been Jones ball and he should have called for it, I thought he did. The flip didn't bother me but I just thought it was odd and the look on Jones face when he saw the ball flip up was priceless.
  19. I hope Hendry agrees with them and waits.
  20. That's funny, cause I'd prolly wouldn't trade Cabrera for Wright. Cabrera is still the best young hitter in the NL East, if NOT all NL/MLB. The difference between Wright and Cabrera, is that Cabrera has NO LEGITIMATE major league hitter protecting him, whereas Wright has Delgado, Floyd and Beltran and to a lesser degree Lo Duca protecting Wright. I slightly take Cabrera, mainly because he is 4 months younger then Wright, and has ALREADY 2 thirty homerun season/110+ rbis seasons under his belt. I like Wright, but I love Miguel Cabrera game, more. I get to see Wright play a lot more than Cabrera and I just like Wrights whole game and attitude. Cabrera hits and will hit well throughout his career but something about him just bugs me. But, I think it would depend on what each team would want and need from the players to judge this trade or make a deal.
  21. Neifi should have been there. What the heck else was he going to do at second? I don't like him there at all.
  22. ESPN News has just announced that Miles has won the Gold Glove.
