  1. I say pitch em 300 innings like in the old days. This way you'll know if he can last and have a good career like Gumby did. Nobody had a rubber arm like Gumby.
  2. Gotta take care of the back first and then go from there. There is no doubt about it, if your back is bothering you it's going to change how you throw.
  3. Power reliever, fastball/slider, like Marmol and Wuertz. When is the last time the Cubs had a sidearm reliever?
  4. Golf season if you play for the Flyers! Who do you want to win this?
  5. The move ended up giving the Reds a very good young pitcher. I am surprised Hendry did this for a division rival.
  6. in a chat - 2 weeks ago maybe Did he pump his left arm once or twice when he said it?
  7. What's the point of that? Starting pitchers aren't going to play anyways. Yeah, I have had the same thought when I've heard people discuss it. Every team would just have their SP who aren't starting be the inactive players. But I don't think you will see a 26 man roster unless the players give something up. Teams will just have to adjust or pitchers will have to go deeper. There are a number of things that could be bargained for the extra spot..ie giving up the DH, lower minimum salary, some for of salary cap...etc. Giving up the DH for 26 players on the active roster would be fine by me.
  8. Maybe he'll take you to the prom if you ask nicely. oh burn. Lets please stop this gentlemen. totally my bad. sorry i posted a baseball stat, was personally attacked, and then took the high road. won't happen again. I was just talking about your and Wilcofans past abuck and I just didn't want this to derail the thread. You both have given each other shots in the last couple of weeks and I was hoping to stop it from going on again.

  10. I agree. I think the Cubs have enough starting pitching in the minors to cover Marquis if he gets released. IMO though, it'll cost some good young pitching talent to get Bradley thus weakening that strength.
  11. Donaghy is saying that there were improper actions from other officials. Teams, coaches and players got favorable treatment according to his attorney to the gov't.
  12. What ever happened to him anyway? He fizzled out pretty quickly. I believe he came up with arm problems. Didn't Avery throw a no no?
  13. I can't do that Sally. I know, I'll tell Micheal you always liked him.
  14. Is it possible that if a team doesn't have power that they may have to run to score runs?
  15. Jim Duquette, though the trade was supposedly influenced pretty strongly by team owner Fred Wilpon and pitching coach Rick Peterson.("I can fix Zambrano in 10 minutes.") So he felt like he should top the Phillips/Mo Vaughn deal? I wonder if the Santana deal will haunt them as well and how well is Milledge doing at Washington?.
  16. Yep, now you're talking.
  17. Wow, I didnt realize a Cubs catcher ever put up a line like that. Yeah, you always hear Hartnett's name in discussions of Cubs greats, but I always assumed that it was in relative terms to the stats of the day. .630 SLG?!?! In 1930!?!? Yeesh. He was juicin'. Yep, tabacky juicin'!
  18. I kept on seeing the Royals march a bunch of lefty hitters to the plate, how many of the outs were left handed?
  19. Pitt vs Detroit....this ought to be a good chance for the NHL to get some new fans with this matchup. Go Wings!
  20. What is the Cubs record when hitting an inside the park HR?
  21. The above-normal patience for Rammy was there before he got hit on the wrist. Cool and groovy. Let's hope he keeps that part of his game up and I'm curious how much Lou/Perry have helped in this.
  22. I think so. But he could still be traded, I'd guess, unless he got a no-trade clause. I'd look to trade him if I could get a young 1B, C or SS (if Brignac doesn't pan out). When a young guy with some arby years left (he does have some, correct?) do they really get a no trade along with it?
  23. If they start to drop I'm sure they could recoup some of those chips and get something for Tejada and whatever assets they have. Ed Wade would just trade him for Tim Worrell though. Yeah, it certainly is nice having Ed at the helm for the Houston Astros.
  24. That wasn't his reasoning for Jacque. It was that he'd never had him on his team before so he had to give him the chance against lefties to see how he'd do. It was so maddening that he wouldn't even believe a stat so simple and factual as Jacque Jones being horrendous against lefties. He had to watch him flail personally.(And even then didn't bench him much. But if you gave Dusty Edmonds he'd be in there. Plus, who else could play RF last year that hit right handed?
