  1. This time they almost collide! I wonder how Cedeno and Walker get along?
  2. Well, it'd probably only be 3-0 at the most anyways, and then we'd all just get more depressed when we blew a 3 run lead, instead of the two run lead we're gonna blow. In Marshall I trust. Well....at least he has a plan.
  3. The guy is throwing balls galore and he swings at a 3-0. Why? I hope Hendry signs Dusty to a 5 year deal soon. jones is a moron, we have known this from day 1 I'm not big on his baseball knowledge but I think Dusty has to give you the ok to swing at that pitch.

  5. Maybe someone can help me with something - I remember a game back earlier in the season against the Dodgers and since I have MLB extra innings, I was listening to Vin Sculley. And I remember clear as day that he said that Murton has lots of power, that he had won a few home run derby's in the minors - but that it had not yet been seen in the majors yet. Anybody else hear that? Very interesting from one of the best... It's been pretty well documented that Murton can put on a show during BP. The problem is, that power hasn't crossed over into game action, at the major league or minor league level. My assumption is that he knows he's swinging in practice and in a game he's more patient and reacts later. I think he'll be fine especially if he gets a good teacher.
  6. SS is the leader in the IF. That was Cedenos screw up, in my opinion. Stupid rookies. They are the reason the Cubs suck.
  7. Bizzaro Baker? Would this cause the Cubs to be thrown off balance?
  8. I don't think there was any bad blood at all. The Twins just weren't going to pay his price. Didn't he get a good ovation when we went to the Metrodome? I'm feeling the love here....Mr. Hendry, get those Twins on the phone! My feeling is that Hendry won't trade Jones because he wants 2 more years of what we already have. The only way Jones is traded is if he becomes a malcontent and forces the issue. Yeah....selling high would really suck and that's not the Cubs way. I'll wait for Hendry to trash him in the press before he trades him. Jones is a decent player who I think should be in left. The Cubs just need a big banger in left or right or another postion if they can find one. If Jones is moved I would like some very good prospects for him. If he stays on the Cubs, I would try him in CF. Sadly, I think you are correct that Hendry won't trade him though he should. He will not be part of the next Cub's playoff team and that should be the only criteria. I have no problem with him being an CF unless that forces Perez to lead off or bat second. That's the thing with the Cubs...they always kind of do things right and end up screwing the whole thing up.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cedeno and a reliever moved so Perez can play SS. Walker is my first guess but if he can't be moved Cedeno will be next. Cedeno has proved he could be a decent backup SS for a team in contention and a valueable piece for their (contender) bench. I still see Cedeno as a 270-290 guy that will be an average to above average defensive SS.

  12. Johnny Bench was the best all around catcher that I've ever seen. I told one of my players that he was going to be the next Johnny Bench and he was upset because he thought he wan't going to play anymore.
  13. How did they part ways....on good or bad terms?
  14. I don't want Ichiro on the market for 2 reasons: -Hendry will never trade for him. -It hurts the market for Pierre.
  15. This team is a rutterless ship and has been for years. They continue to do things without committing to a true plan and this season will tell us who Jim Hendry is. We know who Baker is and that's a lost cause but Hendry still has a chance to redeem himself and TELL Baker to pitch Hill by giving him only 4 other starters and if he doesn't do that he's a lot cause also. Why Nevin, Bynum and Pagan are in there is beyond me but hendry put them on the team and Baker with his vetaholic ways will always find too much time for them. Take away Bakers toys and see what happens but ironically the guy I see traded will be Walker to make room for Perez.
  16. Once he took an outside corner fastball for strike 3....he should be booted off the team for that and sent to Oakland or Boston. That ain't no way to play ball. I'd really like to see his walk rate without all the 3-2 inside fastballs that were outside the zone but called strikes. I would too. I would like to see the Cubs trade Pierre or Jones and put Pagan in CF and keep Murton in left. This way the Cubs can see what to do with both Pagan and Murton and get a good read on 2007. Instead, they'll halfast it and we'll go into 2007 with way too many question marks. That, is the Cub way of doing things.
  17. So he's showing me up again is he? I'll fix that, Pagan starts in left from now on until Pierre and Jones catch up.
  18. If these numbers are what he can do then I'm ok with it. Does he have any power at all and which side of the plate does he hit? I just do not want to see another toolsy guy that swings at every pitch on this team and if Taveras has a decent OBP I'm for it.
  19. Even with a cigarette in his mouth.
  20. Patterson had the nice play last year I believe where he dove and threw someone out at 2nd I think...but I have no idea when they threw someone out at the plate. My guess is that it probably was Patterson...but I can't remember anyone gunning anyone down in the last couple years even. I remember Corey doing it late '04. It was against the Padres, I believe the game went to rain delay with the bases loaded and the Cubs with a 1 run lead or tied. Come back from delay and like the first pitch goes out to center, Corey catches and guns the guy down trying to score. that was when he had like 3 assists in 2 games. The game he had against the Dodgers was fun. Well he's gone and you don't have to worry about runners being thrown out by an OF ever again.
  21. I'd imagine from Dusty it'd be more like "go get em, swing that bat, but don't mess up in the field. if you do, it's because you're still young and i've got neifi to show you the ropes. in fact, you can just watch him. he's a ball player." Oh yeah...and don't blow it. I'd love to see Cedeno and Theriot start for the rest of the year. Let's see what they can do for next year and then Hendry can make a sound decision.
  22. Thanks to Dusty Theriot played well on Saturday. I look forward to his next start for the Twins in 2007. Can't Theriot play SS too? Why does Baker always find a way to put Perez in?
