    You'd want somebody that could on base at a decent clip though right? If Murton can prove he can handle rightys I have no problem with him at the leadof spot. Of course Baker has to go for that to happen.

    IMO most managers would bat Soriano lead off. If you make the gamble would you move Cedeno to get a SS that could lead off to help avoid Soriano from leading off since Pierre would be gone? If Jose Reyes became available, I'd be all over it. :D Well Tim let's get Wright too while we're at it! Do you think Reyes is available or is this wishful thinking? Also my friend...Reyes is about as much a Baker/Hendry guy as you could get, imagine how peeved Baker would be if he's fired and the Cubs than get Reyes? Not even wishful thinking as much as smart-aleck response, Cuse. I see said the blind man. He would be perfect for Hendry/Baker though. What would you do about the leadoff spot? No cute answers but a precise get to the point this is it cause I know the answer is what I'd like to see!

    And pull Hill or Guzman up? Not with Baker around is this going to happen and if it does they can sit on the bench and learn.

    I saw that and was disapointed as well. This team needs to be run by a witch or something since we believe in hexes, curses, and the evil media curse. Always an excuse. ....always. Build a better team and you'll see the excuses go away.

    It's nice that has some nice things to say about Hill. Really, this guy cares so much about the organization it makes me cry. Selfish thin skinned excuse making loser.

    Just another excuse and they get that from the thin skinned one. Hendry HAS to fire Baker now....he has to, there is no if, and, or but about it.

    Raisin was a band geek, not a math nerd. Whoops, looked at the wrong line when I was adding it up in my head but looked at the right line while posting the IP. I was both a band geek and a math nerd in HS. You better get back to learning your goesinto's then! I think the key to Marshall is to keep a close eye on him and make sure he isn't tiring and changing his mechanics. I don't really trust the Cubs that much when it comes to that so maybe they should just keep his pitches down per game.

    I blame all that anti bacterial hand soap for all the injuries the Cubs have had. You have to eat some dirt sometimes and build up your defense system.

    Regardless of whether this is true, the first post in this thread says "vote for your fav." I wouldn't care if Radiohead invented music. I like listening to CCR more. Holy cow now Derwood has to write the criteria to make it too! It does say favorite and I enjoy both bands but CCR has my vote.

    Actually, Gary Woods is a free agent. He's not under contract with anybody. :lol: You do love the Woods man! What is Gary up to these days?

    I'll never forget the haul Von Hayes brought in. If Z did bring in the players like that you wouldn't want them instead? I wouldn't trade him either but I'd listen to offers. Also, what guarentee do we have he'll stay when he's eligible for free agency?

    I too prefer Jason Schmidt over Barry Zito. I think Schmidt could be enticed with a 3 year guaranteed, 4th year auto vest contract. Zito will probably accept no less than a 5 year deal, and will probably get a 6 year deal. I think it's fair to say (based on my sources and observations) that Jim Hendry and Scott Boras have a very good relationship. It's the owner on the other side of town that can't stand Boras. Boras clients don't scare Hendry away. What scares Hendry (Derrek Lee probably being the exception) is anyone wanting more than a 4 year deal, whether he's a Boras client or not. The Red Sox, Yanks, Angels, Texas and Dodgers don't have a problem with Boras either Hoops and they will be the big spenders in the Zito/Schmidt lotto IMO.

    I can't even quote the rest, it's too absurd. It involves realizing he was injured while getting up off a couch and another sneezing story. It's not a good thing that Prior is starting to believe in curses.

    Great. That means Hendry will bid against himself and give Wade Miller a $500M contract and think he did a fantastic job. Yes he will. I would love to make the money Zito is going to get out of those teams and then that would make Schmidt second in the big money race. So yes, your theory will work in the world according to Mr. Hendry.

    Woods no longer a free agent after this year. The DL just signed him to a 2 year 8 Million dollar contract. It's too bad theCubs didn't the money they wasted on Miller for some extra tests for Wood. This team drives me to the point of madness when they do things like not going the extra mile to see what's going on.

    We'd see who wanted those guys around Hendry or Baker if Baker is released. Granted Hendry is the one that makes the final decision but I have to believe Baker had some kind of impact on some of the pickups Hendry made.
